ESPN+ monthly price going up to 9.99 on August 23rd.

Glad my annual reneweal is end of July! Made sure to lock in the annual around that time last year to avoid the hike to $70 a year…..$70 better than what will be $100 under new pricing. Skipping the dollar increase and going straight to 3 bucks higher…inflation sucks.

@locofooty, where did you see this and did they announce a new ESPN+ annual price? Disney bundle price increasing, or just stand-alone ESPN+?

        July 15, 2022 at 4:14 pm

Dave, only ESPN+. Annual price to $99 as JP said. Disney bundle stays the same. They really want people to get that bundle.

@locofooty, thanks. ESPN+ has consistently hovered around $5 ARPU for years. With bundle price staying the same, I wonder how much this will change that. Corporate decision to enable allocating a higher percentage of Disney bundle revenue to ESPN+? Corporate push for the bundle as you note? I do not envy ESPN having such high fixed costs locked in for so many years

The 2. Bundesliga returns this Friday 7/15/22. ESPN+ (DFL in fact) will continue showing two games per Matchday. It means I need to reactivate my ESPN+ account since this Friday. Normally, I would buy 1-year plan, but this year is special. Because of the World Cup in Qatar, there is a massive winter break in german soccer that last more than two months, so it might better to pay on a monthly basis.

      July 12, 2022 at 7:29 am

I do monthly as well. I end up paying way less than the annual plan, even on a regular year. I even skip some days, weaks between months. I always subscribe and cancel in the same transaction. Very convenient.
If you have access to VPN, you can get every B2 match. I’ll do this until early Aug.

        July 12, 2022 at 10:18 pm

Thanks. Which service provide every 2. Bundesliga game? Could it be OneFootball from Brazil? I probably might try at least 1 month of VPN solution until Bundesliga returns. Also, the DFB-Pokal starts on 7/29 and as far as I know no one got the rights yet (ESPN deal ended last season). So, probably VPN will solve that problem too.

How do you get every Bundesliga 2 match? I’m in the US and SKY won’t let me subscribe because I have a US address.

Two games per match day on ESPN+ confirmed (for five consecutive weekends so far). Great work by the DFL. Ideally they should go for minimum 4 games per weekend so that can fill the 4 time slots of the 2.Bundesliga:
FRI 2/11 12:30 pm EST Hansa Rostock vs. Werder Bremen
SAT 2/12 02:30 pm EST Jahn Regensburg vs. FC St. Pauli
FRI 2/18 12:30 pm EST Schalke 04 vs. Paderborn 07
SUN 2/20 07:30 am EST FC St. Pauli vs. Hannover 96
SAT 2/26 07:30 am EST Karlsruher SC vs. Schalke 04
SUN 2/27 07:30 am EST Hamburg vs Werder Bremen

      July 15, 2022 at 1:20 pm

This shoddy work by DFL. Every BL2 game should be streamed on ESPN+ just like BK1.

      • Ra

        July 15, 2022 at 1:45 pm

Agree. On a positive note, I will not pay for ESPN+ for another 2 wks..

  4. Leo

    January 29, 2022 at 1:04 pm

I can see a game of the next weekend 2.Bundesliga will be available on 2/5 as well:
2/5 02:30 pm EST FC St. Pauli vs. Paderborn 07
2/6 07:30 am EST Darmstadt 98 vs. Hamburger SV
Recently, Derek Rae commented that there would be more 2.Bundesliga games with world feed commentators. We went from one game per month to two games per week in the last two match days (thanks to DFL, not ESPN+). Hopefully this trend will continue. I’d love Augsburg and Wolfsburg to go down so Ricardo Pepi and Kevin Paredes could draw more attention to 2.Bundesliga.

@Leo Yes, I also wait to watch it on demand to be able to skip large sectionsof the program, as I don’t care for 95% of the program. But I had to find these highlights on YouTube instead.

  6. Leo

    January 19, 2022 at 10:35 pm

@Ra Well, Leipzig is kind of the only ‘mainstream’ team that left in the Pokal, so it is understandable. I normally watch ESPN FC on demand so I can skip things I don’t care. About 2. Bundesliga, hopefully a better solution can be found. I would just put those games on a ESPN-Bundesliga Youtube Channel. It’d be literally zero cost for ESPN+. Or maybe the DFL in Germany could provide a feed with english commentary (It should not be THAT expensive and I would think enough young journalists in Germany with 2. Bundesliga knowledge would love that kind of internships).

  7. Ra

    January 19, 2022 at 9:34 pm

@Leo That is the least these morons can do. We had 4 amazing games on the DFB-Pokal today and these idio* only showed a couple of goals of the energy Co today on ESPN FC. No highlights or anything. Never will waste my time even checking ESPN FC again… Just wish I could get Bundesliga and Pokal DTC and to say them a big “auf wiedersehen” and “arrivederci”. They lost Serie A for La Liga – how stupid can one be?
They should make every Bundesliga 2 stream available. Onefootball is doing this for free in other countries…

  8. Leo

    January 19, 2022 at 9:17 pm

For the first time, ESPN+ will show two games from a 2. Bundesliga matchday:
1/21 12:30 pm EST Hamburger SV vs. FC St. Pauli ( the Hamburger Stadtderby)
1/22 02:30 pm EST Erzgebirge Aue vs. Schalke 04
I wonder if this is because the fantastic performance of the 2. Bundesliga teams in the DFB-Pokal where half of the last 8 teams are from the second division.

  9. Ra

    January 14, 2022 at 3:58 pm

@Chris Do you have a section for the DFL Cup as well? The Dortmund vs St Pauli seems a great match to watch, indeed.

  10. Ra

    December 10, 2021 at 1:39 pm

@Caleb All 2.B (and all 1.B by the way) matches are available for free on Onefootball – only for Brazilian users/IPs. I can confirm it. Typically they will do one narration in Portuguese for 2.B and two for 1.Bundesliga for each match day. All other matches are world feed (no commentaries for 2.B and in English for 1.B). The Twitter of the main commentator is @gerdwenzel. He usually posts news of which matches he will comment on. All others are world feed. They are commentating on the game between Schalke and Nürnberg now btw.

Ra, how did you find 2. Bundesliga from another country free? VPN? What site?

  12. Ra

    October 23, 2021 at 8:18 am

The stream quality of all B.2 games are superb. Multiple cameras, replays, etc. And it is actually quite fun to watch without any commentary; I feel like I’m in the stadium. It is unacceptable that ESPN is de facto blocking people from watching it.

And the lack of commentary is not a good excuse; they stream a lot of cra* from college or high school that have a single fixed camera and no commentary either.

  13. Ra

    October 17, 2021 at 10:08 pm

I was able to find all Bundesliga 2. games for free by accessing from another country. The language won’t matter as it is natural audio only. It is a very unique broadcasting right for both Bundesliga 1. and 2. that I haven’t seen elsewhere.
Btw, ESPN should start the streams earlier. The world feed starts 10 min earlier and gives a great idea on the atmosphere at the stadiums. Now that I can compare, I am somewhat disappointed with ESPN.

    August 22, 2021 at 9:02 am

The Bundesliga 2 game today is very entertaining and better than LaLiga in my opinion. I wonder what ESPN was thinking when they paid that truckload of money for that. The only explanation is Messi, and now he is gone…

Will ESPN+ stream more games of 2.Bundesliga next season? Big names like Bremen, Hamburg, Schalke, Hannover, Karlsruher, Nurnberg, and possibly Köln might require more than 1 game a week. Even raw feed like FoxSoccerMatchPass did in the past would be ok.

    • Christopher Harris

      May 25, 2021 at 6:20 pm

ESPN+ doesn’t want to broadcast the raw feed, so they’ll only show games that they produce to ensure the highest quality. It’s quite possible they may show more games on ESPN+ next season, but we don’t expect a big increase.
