What would Peacock be without the Premier League? NBCUniversal’s streaming service is such a vital cog in the viewing habits of fans of Premier League clubs that the two are synonymous. In the same manner, let’s face it. The vast majority of us only subscribe to Peacock because of soccer. In spite of this, what’s your Peacock TV wishlist of improvements to enhance the streaming service?
First, let’s be fair and mention that Peacock TV has quietly made considerable progress since launching in 2020. For instance, you can pause and rewind games. Consecutive matches now automatically are on the same stream, so there’s no need to jump from stream to stream. In the same manner, it appears that the picture quality and frames per second have improved.
Subsequently, we were glad to see Premier League Productions broadcasts being shown during halftime of the Goal Rush this season. Of equal importance, the price has remained the same ($5/month for Peacock Premium, and free for Comcast Xfinity customers). For example, that’s the same price even though the number of Premier League games on Peacock has increased from 175 last year to 180 this season. In contrast, there is undoubtedly room for improvement.

Therefore, here’s our wishlist of improvements to enhance the streaming service. If you see any that are missing, add them to the comments section below.
1) Give us more games. ESPN+ has been on the cutting edge of offering leagues to soccer fans. For instance, you can watch every single LaLiga and Bundesliga game on ESPN+ without any worry. But if you want to watch the Premier League, you get 180 games from Peacock but you’ll need another subscription to a cable/satellite/streaming service to get the remaining 200 matches. As a result, Peacock is not appealing to cord cutters and it upsets cable subscribers who feel they have to pay more to get all games. The solution is to offer all 380 games for a higher price point to cord cutters.
2) More soccer. We realize that NBCUniversal paid $2.5 billion to renew the Premier League rights for 2022/23 through 2027/28, but we would love NBC Sports to expand its portfolio of club soccer. Yes, it does have the World Cup in Spanish starting in November. But would it be too much to ask for Peacock to consider bidding on rights to other soccer leagues?
3) Give more visibility to the Premier League TV Channel. There are a lot of fans of Premier League clubs who aren’t aware that Peacock has a 24/7 Premier League TV Channel that’s hidden away. You’ll find it if you scroll deep down through the ‘Channels’ section. From what we’ve heard, there are plans to improve the design of Peacock in the future. It’s not as clunky as it used to be. However, making the Premier League TV Channel easier to find in Peacock should be a prerequisite.
4) Take the shackles off Premier League Productions content. We all know NBC Sports is the exclusive broadcaster of the Premier League in the United States. But NBC Sports’ insistence of blacking out the Premier League TV Channel when there’s pre-match coverage on USA is silly. If we’re paying for Peacock, we should be able to see Peacock’s coverage of the Premier League TV Channel. It’s not going to make that much of a difference to the viewing numbers on USA to force us to watch NBC’s pre-match on linear TV.

– Stream/Broadcast all 4k produced matches on Peacock/Comcast (currently 1-2 per week)
– Matches that play on cable/replays make available on Peacock within an hour or two
– Offer an option at additional cost for 380 matches, live and replay. (I’d pay for it)
Note- After watching two matches on Peacock today 8/13 (ARS v LEC, WOL v FUL) I’m impressed with PQ. Picture quality has definitely improved on Peacock. Colors popped (HDR?) and overall picture looked much better than last season (60fps vs 30fps?) Compared to watching matches on USA/NBC it seems Peacock streams much better than cable.

Anyone know someone to contact about the lack of PLTV shows on demand? It’s ridiculous they won’t provide a schedule and there’s pretty much no shows on demand anymore. I can’t just sit and watch the channel 24/7 hoping to see the shows I want to see. This is so poorly run it’s incredible.

Don’t know the answer to that but you hit the nail on the head but it also may be a sign of things to come. Because the live sports property is already very expensive they may want to skimp with the shoulder programming or force you into buying a cable package.

Watched the Arsenal game afterwards big announcement of full coverage and analysis only to see the three circles your coverage has ended also the same with Goal Zone. The scum bags in charge of what is being put on to Peacock need to go.

NBCSports had their normal 30 minute show from 12 to 12:30 after the 10am games, Hans, I know I watched it. First 15 minutes or so have all the goals & big moments from the 10 am games and then 15 minutes on Brentford-ManU and some chit chat with Peter Drury and Lee Dixon…that show is usually “added value” for USA so it is never on Peacock. I don’t know if you happened to watch Goal Rush but today at the half I think they stayed with the PLP/IMG halftime show instead of doing what they usually do–just replaying highlights and graphics from the first half to dumb music over and over without any narration. I was watching Arsenal on one screen and Goal Rush on the other and just reflexively switched over to USA for the halftime but I think Goal Rush had the PLP PL TV halftime analysis.

Andrew, PL TV production is very different and very disappointing this year. Here’s what I caught last week and when I caught it, all times EST.
Saturday Matchday Live at 6:30am EST was blacked out even though NBCSports didn’t start until 7am
Saturday 3-4pm had the Matchday Live Extra post game and then generic match highlights in half hour blocks started at 4pm.
Monday has Kelly and Wrighty at 9am EST followed by The Weekend Wrap from 10am-11:30 . Instead of a preview show like last year Kelly & Wrighty is now a weekend recap show. Same format, two in-studio guest pundits, lots of good discussion. The Weekend Wrap is also excellent, highlights, analysis, the same ex-ref expert from last year Zooms in for some assessment of the controversial calls and non-calls. Both shows are superb. If you watch these two shows you won’t need to watch about 70% of the rest of the weeks shows because all the same clips and highlights will be endlessly recycled and repackaged.
I couldn’t watch anything on Tuesday.
Wednesday had a repeat of Kelly & Wrighty at 11 and I caught Generation xG at 4pm. I’m not sure when it was on earlier in the day. This is the new incarnation of “The Analysis Show” from last year with Matt Holland and it is also excellent.
Thursday was worthless.
Friday starts with a studio show Welcome to the Weekend at 6am but it was too vapid for me
9:30-10:30am was a Generation xG repeat
10:30-11:30 was the only Fanzone of the week
11:30 there was 30 minute nice & tight narrated preview of games w/ clips of manager press conferences
12-1 a Welcome to the Weekend repeat
1-2 was a new show called “Team Talks” with Jules Breach in studio with 2 pundits, a preview of upcoming games, has managers press conferences, similar to Kelly and Wrighty from last year. It was well worth watching.
So that’s it so far, very few worthwhile shows, really just Matchday Live Extra if it is not blacked out, Kelly & Wrighty, the Weekend Wrap, Generation xG and Team Talks. Of course none of it on demand.

Every piece of PL-related content produced by NBC/Telemundo, PLP, or Sky should be available on Peacock at a minimum of on demand (and available within an hour of concluding). The fact that they’re leaving dozens of hours of already paid-for content on the table every week is astonishing incompetence. Maybe the Comcast suits are content with a paltry 13M paid subscribers?

Used to be able to watch an hour-long Premier League review on my Fox Regional Channel (had the Kasabian opening). I’d love to see that on Peacock. Or MOTD. they used to show that on Saturday nights on NBCSN

NBC and Sky in England are partners right? the one thing they could do is give us more Sky centered coverage like maybe showing some of there Sky Sports Premier League coverage instead of listening to podcasts and getting limited access to YouTube videos on there page I know you can use VPN to access Sky content but

1. Give us more games. But in the short term do not worry about offering all 380 games for a higher price point to cord cutters. Not yet anyway. We understand that for the next year or two you are challenged on two fronts: you need to prop up the USA channel and convince more people to subscribe to Peacock. So the solution is to put all 380 games on Peacock for your most loyal customers, the ones who subscribe to cable (or Sling Blue or YouTube TV et al) in order to get USA legally, let us log in with our cable credentials and see all of the 380 games we are entitled to in one place;
2. No more soccer. Focus all of your attention improving the Premier League experience, the envy of the world, and do not bid on any lesser soccer properties, leave that strategy to ESPN+ while they raise prices yet again to an absurd $10 a month while failing to retain rights to the Premier League, the World Cup, the Euros, the Nations League or Serie A. You need ESPN+ with its $10 a month bag of rocks to showcase the value of your two cord-cutting diamonds, the PL and the World Cup, for only $5 a month;
3. “Give more visibility to the Premier League TV Channel” and “Take the shackles off PLP content” these are inextricably tied together. It makes no sense to promote the PL TV channel any more than you currently do because the channel itself is so poorly managed and in obvious decline. We do not need easier access to the same recycled clips and highlights and taped interviews repeated day after day because we’ve already seen all of them on Goal Zone. You value the PL TV shows so little that you aren’t even making the best of them, like Kelly & Wrighty, available on demand in its entirety anymore in Peacock, like you did last season. If you don’t value the order, structure and flow of a great one hour live show like that, if you don’t respect the interplay and charm between the two unique hosts and their guests and instead think it’s a good idea to chop up that show and put 10 minute clips on Peacock instead, then why expend any energy directing more of your subscribers to the channel? Because IMG and PLP don’t care enough to provide an easily accessible weekly show schedule no one knows what’s going to be on the channel anyway. As far as blacking out the excellent PLP Matchday Live and Matchday Extra we understand completely why you have to do that, these are excellent shows with top UK based talent and you have to add value to the USA channel while justifying the salaries of your American-based talent. But, when you do not have any NBCSports shoulder programming running on USA or Peacock at the time you should not black out PLP like you currently do because that just says you don’t care one whit about your viewers.

Cancelling ESPN+ in February as they have no longer any properties I am interested in, La Liga not a chance after the saga that is playing out in public. Getting the FA Cup now courtesy of BBC and ITV via VPN. Caraboa Cup only worth the quarter, semi finals and the final not worth the money for it.
That basically leaves ESPN-FC which I did enjoy until it became La Liga centric and Ronaldo obsessive and the total turn off from A. Moreno. My highlights are now coming via MOTD through iPlayer available at 7pm EST and that show is the gold standard.

This sets up the request for a decent shoulder programming for an EPL show that can be readily accessed instead in a hub rather then of buried in the channel selection.

Like the way Paramount set up their highlights and commentary for the European competitions. Will continue to subscribe to peacock for the Rugby content and would go add free if they offer something like what Paramount does, live TV of local channels.

Their on-demand games for the 2022 Rugby competitions disappeared but they still have the 2020/2021 matches posted they really need to improve the way they present their content and properties. But then it is Comcast which says it all.

See nothing changed for the new season and I didn’t expect anything new, after all it is Comcast. Only want to see all matches on Peacock or at least have them posted after concluding on the cable channels. But then again we are talking Comcrap here so don’t hold your breath.
This whole watching the EPL has reached the level of clusterf**k and I for one have started looking seriously for alternatives. Researched the different English speaking countries and found the complex but legal way to either go with Optus in Australia USD 143 for a year and it has all 380 games streaming plus La Liga and in addition to live also on demand selections. Easy to set up no hassle if you use a HTPC or Chrome web browser with VPN extension.
Or another choice, the cheapest, is the Hotstar in India like a few USD per month and again live games but for me too much of a hoop to jump through.
Since ESPN+ and Disney feel the heat from the investors I am cancelling ESPN+ when it renews with the ridiculous price increase next year. That leaves the FA Cup which airs free on BBC iPlayer and the ITV Hub. created two accounts and I am set with the VPN.
Keeping the Paramount + add free subscription most excellent for Serie A and the European competitions. For all none Peacock EPL matches there are most excellent live feeds on twitter accounts this how to get around the USA mess.

Honestly the best thing Peacock could do is not buy anymore soccer or sports rights. It’s a disaster NBC got the EPL rights and the only consolation is the EPL is perhaps the easiest live thing on earth to pirate so there are options (some of this CONCACAF stuff there are zero alternatives, so thank god CBS is generally on the ball).
They aren’t going to put all or even more games on peacock, the split is deliberate to make things difficult and expensive. Multicast isn’t particularly useful because there is nothing else on NBC I would watch. NBC is so dumb and deep in the PL cool-aid they probably won’t go for the EFL or the FA cup because it would mean NBC can’t be 100% EPL (I prefer it on ESPN with Multicast anyway). There is more EPL content on NBC’s youtube page for free than on Peacock, nevermind the Sky content they don’t bother to show.
They are better than Fox for not selling off these games to a $70 a month streaming service, but beyond that I don’t think there is anything positive to say about NBC or Peacock. Fixing things to an acceptable condition would require an immediate volte face by NBC, which is never going to happen unless Comcast sells them.

I wish we could just watch the versions that are on live in UK. Watching/listening to the Women’s UEFA vs. the ESPN coverage really brought that home. BBC was far superior. Plus, I like how the BBC calls games. It sounds to me that Peacock uses the international english feed, but I’m not sure about that. I just wish they used the local feeds.

Chris, did you notice the app update over the weekend? On the Flex device, the UI has changed so that the tabs are vertical on left hand side. Tuning into a match stream late, they now have a feature to let you catch up on key moments before going live. It’s not on the browser version yet, but assuming it will be released on other devices soon.

I saw the Key Moments tabs while watching Man U – Brighton on Peacock (AppleTV device) but they couldn’t even get that right! I click on the button to watch a previous Brighton goal, and all I got was 30 seconds of players walking around at a random point in the game. That was a mess. Maybe others had better luck?

I don’t see NBC putting too many more games on Peacock than they are doing now. Easy to point to ESPN and CBS and having all their soccer coverage available on its platform but remember – only a small handful of matches make it to linear TV each year. Those leagues were bought as streaming products, not TV products. NBC can put more PL games on TV in a weekend than the Bundesliga puts on ESPN the entire season. Only way this changes is if USA subscriber numbers drop precipitously, and NBC decides they may be interested in bringing back an NBC Sports Gold type model where you can buy EVERY PL game for a set fee of a couple hundred dollars.
In terms of more leagues – I never understood why they didn’t try to take the rights to the FA Cup and the EFL, essentially making it the ‘Home’ of English football in the US. The rights fees can’t be THAT much, and you get access to not only club, but England NT friendlies – men and the now European champion Women’s sides. If they had held onto WSL, you really could have had an all-encompassing coverage setup. But outside of England – focus on what you have.
As Steve mentioned, PL TV production has been slashed a great deal, so don’t expect very many programs there. Having said that – the programs they do have, like the Generation xG (which is the successor program to The Analysis Show), they don’t put up on the service on demand. Peacock doesn’t have DVR capabilities for the channel, so I’m looking to other means to pull that programming. Also – you have Sky, put up their stuff too. Monday Night Football at a minimum.
Things like a better interface, multicast, would all be great too but honestly feel it’s a pipedream with NBC.

Thank you for that recommendation of Generation xG Bradley, one of the shows from last year that I was missing most was The Analysis Show usually with Matt Holland, when I saw his little snippet with Karen Carney on the Catchup Show I wondered where that was from. That was the show I wanted more than any other to have been made available on demand on Peacock last year, naturally they removed Kelly & Wrighty and stuck us with more Joe Prince-Wright zoom chats with MLS reporters instead.
Looks like an xG repeat is coming up at 4pm today EST.

This is wishful thinking, I’m afraid, like expecting Disney to all of a sudden start offering all its best ESPN programming from ABC and ESPN/ESPN2 on ESPN+ at a higher price point. Not gonna happen anytime soon.
If $5 a month for Peacock isn’t appealing to a cord cutter they need to turn in their cord-cutter credentials and this cable subscriber doesn’t mind paying slightly more for access to those 180 Premier League games and the World Cup on Peacock: what I mind is not being able to log into Peacock with my cable credentials and then have access to all 380 games live and on demand in one place. This is the more reasonable short term solution, not appeasing cord-cutters who have been duped into thinking Peacock isn’t worth $5 a month.
In essence, don’t charge cord-cutters more, instead give more to the cable and cord straddler who are playing your game by paying for legal access to both USA and Peacock.
Charles Bobis, I must say an excellent summation and critique of PL TV, thank you. But I’m afraid I have some tough love to share about PL TV: it’s ship has sailed, IMG and PLP are ruining what many of us have appreciated about it. They have let on-air and production staff go, ITV, BT, SKY and IMG Media and Premier League Productions are being investigated by the UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for suspected anti-competitive behaviour having to do with hiring freelance sports production and broadcasting services.
Now PL TV is all about packaged highlights, recycled clips, creating “timeless” content and insipid drivel that can be rinsed, washed and repeated ad infinitum. Very few of the enjoyable and timely daily shows from last year remain which had discussion, interviews, reporters actually reporting, etc. Kelly & Wrighty returns but no longer on demand in Peacock, instead they are annoyingly breaking up 10 minute segments from K & W and including them in “Top Stories” in the way the ghastly ESPN.com pulls video snippets out of its shows that no one watches to fill up space on its website.
The only decent programming I’ve watched so far:

Finally, the “more soccer” request. No, no, no. You have the crown jewel, the best product, that is enough, what you need to do is do it better, in the same way that Apple iterates and slowly evolves its products. Christopher asks “Would it be too much to ask for Peacock to consider bidding on rights to other soccer leagues?” I ask, is it too much to expect Comcast to do a better job with the league they have?

Why is the PLP shoulder programming not available on demand this season? I used to watch Premier League Today, Fanzone, the Kelly & Wrighty Show, Weekend Preview, Weekend Review, etc. last season and none of those have returned. I can’t find any PLP shows on demand at all.

1. Need to have all the NBC studio programming exclusive to Peacock available on demand. You don’t see it live currently you miss it. However they did it Championship Sunday so why the inconsistency? No prematch before both the Liverpool and MU matches.
2. Would like a Multicast feature for the 10am window like ESPN+.
Btw they added a feature during the live stream of matches allowing you to catch up on the key moments of the match.

I think now that normal weekend game scheduling on NBC and USA is back we will never see any of the NBCSports studio programming archived on Peacock because Comcast needs to keep convincing cable and satellite services to carry USA, and one carrot that they can use is their shoulder programming, that Premier League Mornings and Goal Zone et al are on cable. I was happy to see they left the halftime show in the replay of Man City West Ham but if you watch the Arsenal replay you’ll notice the halftime show was excised, and that’s because it was on USA.
Multicast on ESPN+ is great, adding it to Peacock is an excellent idea but only if they keep Goal Rush and if they can pull it off as seamlessly as ESPN+ does, half measures like Paramount+ tried would not be appreciated.

But they also don’t have on demand any of the Premier League Mornings or Goal Zone when they show it live solely on Peacock. Those were never aired on USA so why not available on demand? I live on the west coast so I’m not getting up at 3:30 am just to watch the pregame when it’s on Peacock. When it’s on cable I can DVR it, but I miss it when it’s only shown live on Peacock.

Currently, you can get Vix+ integrated within YouTube TV and Sling TV. Peacock would be better if it could be integrated into our TV provider whether it is YouTube TV, Sling, Fubo, or even Spectrum.

I know it’s early days, and things might improve, but at least as of today, Peacock has not made much of the PLTV programming available on demand under the heading of “latest PLTV programs.” This despite the pitch to potential subscribers about the great programming on PL TV during the NBC studio shows this past weekend. As of 12:38 pm ((NY time) on August 10, 2022 there are only 2 PLTV episodes on “The Latest PLTV Episodes” playlist (netbusters and the first weekend review show of the season both from 8/8.) Other shows are being repeated on PLTV, such as the first Kelly & Wrighty show of the season, which was shown again on PLTV channel this morning, but is not available on demand. Instead they have taken segments from it adding up to only about 40 min. and placed them under the “top stories” playlist. I also caught a bit of a “new” show called GenerationXG (?) that I think used to be called the analysis show. The first Fan Zone of the new season is also not available on demand.
So Improvement #1 would be to make most (if not all) of the PLTV content available on demand.It is far superior to anything NBC puts out under its PST brand.
PLTV has brand new studios with all the high-tech bells and whistles, but they still don’t publish a schedule of the programing, which is frustrating. I have written to Peacock “customer care” (support@help.peacocktv.com) numerous times to request such a schedule, but none has been forthcoming. Do they expect subscribers to be streaming PLTV 24/7 in order to catch their favorite shows? How inconsiderate!
#2. Publish a schedule of PLTV programming

There needs to be a schedule of PLTV programming. Otherwise it’s turn on the channel and hole it’s decent. That works for peacocks SNL channel but not PL.
Any word on the FPL show with James Richardson? I haven’t seen it so far this season

1. Have all games on Peacock along with Televised games USA/NBC
2. Have all EPL games on Peacock in 4K
3. Have a multicast setting for all devices for games on Peacock (AppleTV, FireTV, chromecast and Roku), Not just on ESPN+. So we can watch more then one game at a time.

Because of distribution agreements to protect cable / sat operators, games on USA are televised live on Peacock. Matches shown on over the air NBC are not part of that agreement.
Also, not all PL matches are shot in 4K.

Peacock is terrible and it doesn’t matter if you are watching soccer or other programming. It’s not user friendly at all. Also, it’s pricing structure is very confusing. People brag about their PL coverage but all they do is use the world feed which is what fox used as well.
Would be beneficial to viewers if they could combine with another streaming service to provide more value but that isn’t going to happen.

1. Have an all 380 streaming package option.
2. PLTV content on demand.
3. Include 4K games through Peacock. It is odd to me that the rights holder NBC/Comcast does not provide 4K game access through its Xfinity or Peacock products.

You are right about 4K. It’s strange overall that in 2022, everything isn’t in 4K. There was more sports in 4K pre covid. I don’t understand it. Soccer and hockey in particular benefit so much from 4K.
