People! Eredivisie is back in ESPN!!! They just added the games back in the app!

I was just told by someone at ESPN’s help center that they will not be showing Eredivisie matches this season.
I don’t know how reliable this information is. I’m not sure why they would give up the rights or make this decision.
Considering how much European football is available on TV in the US these days, it seems absurd not to be able to watch matches in the Eredivisie.
I would be very disappointed and may well give up my subscription. I recognize the value of La Liga and the Bundesliga, but since my main interests are the Eredivisie and Serie A, there would be little left to tempt me to get ESPN+ when I already have access to ESPN and ESPN2.

Obviously, I too would be very interested to know if you have any further information on this.
    Thanks….

I’m looking into it. Officially, Eredivisie’s website has ESPN still listed as their broadcaster.

        August 6, 2022 at 2:23 pm

Isn’t that because ESPN is the broadcaster in The Netherlands?

I would also be disappointed not to have the Eredivisie. It is the only thing that I watch on ESPN+. Does anyone know who else might be airing the division?

Thanks for the sad info. I will keep hoping that someone decides to bring back the Eredivisie. With Mexican Internationals now on the top three Dutch squads (Ajax will feature Edson and the new right back from Club America Jorge Sanchez Ramos, PSV have Eric Gutierrez, and Feyenoord will feature Santiago Giminez) perhaps one of the Spanish language stations will air the games?

I had them look into it and they said they couldn’t get to an agreement with the Dutch league…… What a load a bollox, if you ask me! They broadcast and stream life in Holland, even if no sell outs, but cannot stream in the US … complete utter bollox! if you ask me.

Is the Eredivise no long on ESPN+? I don’t see any games for all of August, unlike the Belgian, Swedish, Spanish, German leagues etc. If not on ESPN+, is it streaming anywhere in the USA?

      August 1, 2022 at 7:10 am

Hopefully it’s like last year when they didn’t post the schedule until the last minute

      • JP

        August 1, 2022 at 2:35 pm

They renewed just prior to last season, so have to think it was for 3 years. There’s still and Eredivisie section if you search by leagues so a good sign. Probably the Eredivisie not finalizing which 3-4 matches will be made available yet, they often waited until almost the end of the week before.

        My guesses are
        Fortuna Sittard/Ajax 10:30am Saturday
        PSV/Emmen 2:00 Saturday
        Vitesse/Feyenoord 8:30am Sunday
then toss up between Heerenveen/Sparta Rotterdam 2:00 Friday (kick off match of the season) or AZ Alkmaar/Go Ahead Eagles 10:45am Sunday (Alkmaar usually in a somewhat regular rotation in addition to the Ajax/PSV/Feyenoord locks to be shown each week)

FC Twente v PSV was easily the best match this weekend, in any league. Eredivisie never fails to disappoint.

Watch the replay if you haven’t seen it. Won’t spoil it for ya.

@Ra, sorry don’t have any recommendations, but there must be some books centered around the Torino side of the 1940’s and subsequent tragedy.

    November 20, 2021 at 12:07 pm

@JP I am also tuned in Lazio-Juve now. JP, you seem to be knowledgeable on Italian soccer. Do you have any book recommendations on the story of Italian soccer and clubs? Thanks

    November 20, 2021 at 11:21 am

@Ra, thanks for the tip. At a 12:30 start will make for good HT and end of match viewing with Lazio/Juve.
Also interested a tiny bit for Liverpool/Arsenal, only for the chance Liverpool drops temporarily out of top 4, for all the love they get and Arsenal in after all the derision they got earlier.

@JP Crowd makes a huge difference. It is understandable but I am sad to see the restrictions. Enjoying the Dortmund game here also. My can’t miss game is the Berlin derby ‘an der alten Försterei’. It is my favorite stadium; the guy changing the scoreboard manually is always an iconic moment.

Ugh, no crowd for PSV/Vitesse and fake crowd noise. Really wanted to watch this but making it difficult, might need to go back to Dortmund!

Is there any place to watch the Dutch Eredivise on US TV/streaming in 2021-2022?
ESPN’s US rights ended after the 2021 season.

Just getting started with Soccer Plus on the Dish system. Have found the web site with the various leagues listed. By doing some digging have found the channel listings. As a test located the day and time for Ajax on Sunday the 21st. Said to be on Ch. 158. at 11:45 ET. Did scroll ahead to that time – adjusted to west coast time a did not find it. I see quite a few of Alternate Ch. so could it be on one of those.. Or would the game show on the guide nearer that date?

It’s not Wolfsberg, IT IS WOLFSBURG

    • Christopher Harris

      October 15, 2020 at 5:55 pm

Wolfsburg got knocked out of the Playoff Round in the Europa League by AEK Athens.

Wolfsberg, a totally different team, qualified from Austria and are playing in the Europa League this season.

I’ve only been sampling this league for about half a season, but never disappointed. The PSV v ADO Den Haag match right now more entertaining than any PL I’ve seen this weekend (not saying better players or teams).

Eredivisie needs more hype, for entertainment only just trails La Liga for me in style of play and atmosphere (might win for atmosphere).

    • Jeremy

      September 2, 2019 at 6:18 pm

Totally agree, JP. I’ve been telling friends who’ve never watched the Eredivisie that the entertainment value and level of play is equal to or surpasses many top European leagues. I think they could market their league for the style of play and that it’s the league of future stars – there’s a segment of US fans they could easily reach.

Living in Antigua and have been watching the last years on espn almost all the top games live. Am I correct to get worried that they don’t show the games coming season?

ESPN in the Caribbean will continue to televise the games.

I’m a bit confused about what I can expect. Which eredivisie matches are shown? I can only see PSV. The leading team in The Netherlands is Feyenoord. Are these matches shown as well?

    • Christopher Harris

      October 11, 2016 at 3:04 pm

PSV Eindhoven is featured more prominently because they have 2 Mexicans on their squad. Other than PSV, Ajax is the other team most often featured on Univision Deportes.

NGSN has English-language rights to all of the Eredivisie games, but they still haven’t relaunched, so most of the Eredivisie games are not being shown in the US at this time.

      • Alexander Rivera

        March 10, 2017 at 1:25 am

Where in USA television can we watch the Eredivisie? I’m a follower of the Afc Ajax and I don’t know where to watch the Eredivisie games, I remember they use to show them on espn 3 but it seems it doesn’t show them anymore. Does the Univision Deportes still broadcast and still show Dutch Football? And also, I’m wanting to post up some of my own article soccer stories, especially on the Ajax. is there anyway I can try and post up my own soccer articles on this site?

        • Christopher Harris

          March 10, 2017 at 6:47 am

Currently, Eredivisie games are no longer televised in the United States. NGSN has the rights but they’re no longer in business. Univision no longer has been showing the games. Hopefully someone else will be picking up the games next season.

                August 13, 2017 at 9:05 am

I’m not seeing any Eredivisie listings on either beIN SPORTS or ESPN Deportes. The league still has no home in the USA.

  21. Collin Werner

    July 30, 2016 at 1:28 pm

According to my listings, one of the 1:45 pm games on August 6 will be airing on Univision Deportes (coverage starting at 1:30 pm) . My listings don’t mention the teams involved but I’m pretty confident that it’ll feature the PSV Eindhoven match.
