@Karl in addition to the potential Paramount+/Peacock partnership with the PL, I could also see Amazon Prime/Tubi (Fox’s streaming service) or Bleacher Report/Discovery+ partnering up to do the same with the MLS rights which are up after next season. Amazon & Fox already work together when it comes to the NFL as Thursday Night Football is also available on Amazon Prime in addition to Fox. Amazon also has a deal with Sounders FC to stream locally televised games and I am sure that they would want to expand that to all of MLS as a replacement to ESPN+ for the out of market games. As for Bleacher Report & Discovery+, it makes sense for both of them to partner up because AT&T (who owns Bleacher Report) and Discovery are going to be merged into one big company and Discovery is looking to add live sports to Discovery+.

It seems inevitable that the non-Disney services are going to have to collaborate in some fashion to better compete with the Disney Bundle of D+/Hulu/ESPN+/Star(outside US) that is gaining major foothold globally. ViacomCBS & Comcast/Sky are partnering in a variety of ways in Europe, and it makes me wonder if we could see a potential Paramount+/Peacock partnership for a split of PL rights that would see something like a $9/month bundle for the two services while both companies would only be taking on half the costs of the rights, which is likely going to get to $300M/year.

Happy holiday! Listening to this podcast is an enjoyable part of my week. I appreciate your covering many aspects of the sport and its US broadcasting. A few thoughts:

1. Insightful comments on EPL:Big 5 as SEC:P5 and the evolving balance of power
2. Great numbers on Univision for MLS-Liga MX all-star game. No doubt many factors drive this, but I agree promotion is big. Univision frequently advertise upcoming matches on the TUDN family. I suspect Liga MX viewers tended to know the date, time, and channel
3. Thank you for the recommend on fubo Latino. Their CONMEBOL coverage is good so far and the channels are a nice complement to my pre-existing bundle. Looking forward to catching a few extra Liga MX games on TUDN and Fox Deportes after the international break
4. Good to hear the update on WSL and ATA. I enjoy NWSL and Paramount+ has been a breath of fresh air for following the league. I hope ATA succeed in achieving the same for WSL

As an African myself I’m glad espn plus received the rights to broadcast the qualifiers since I watched Ghana vs. Ethiopia today, hopefully someone can get the rights to the African cup of nations.
