Where to watch UEFA Champions League on US TV

CBS Sports is now the new rights-holder for both the UEFA Champions League and Europa League in the United States. The English-language broadcaster has the rights through the end of the 2023/24 season with every single game being available via the Paramount+ streaming platform.

Gone are the days of FOX Sports and TNT/Bleacher Report having the rights.

For Spanish-language broadcasts, Univision/TUDN has the rights, which can be streamed via fuboTV. Additionally, all UEFA Champions League matches will air live across Univision’s platforms this season, including more than 80 on linear networks Univision, UniMás, TUDN and Galavisión. (The 2018-2019 UEFA Champions League on the Univision networks was most-watched edition in the competition’s history on U.S. television, regardless of language, reaching nearly 22.2 million).

Group Stage coverage of the tournament typically begins in September each year.

Or, Paramount+ is currently offering a free 7-day trial so you can test drive the streaming service.

Where to watch UEFA Europa League on US TV

In a seismic shift in how consumers are offered UEFA Champions League and Europa League matches in the United States, very few of the games will be featured on U.S. English-language television (it’ll be on Paramount+). CBS Sports Network will televise select UEFA Champions League games throughout the season. Univision broadcasts the Spanish-language coverage of the tournament on U.S. television.

Beginning with the conclusion of the 2019/20 season of the UEFA Champions League and Europa League, CBS Sports will broadcast the competitions on U.S. television and streaming. On the Spanish-language side, Univision will continue to broadcast the UEFA tournaments.

How to listen to the Champions League

Starting this season, UEFA is broadcasting two matches per day live with audio only via a service called UEFA Matchday Live. It’s being streamed live on the UEFA Champions website and the UEFA Champions App.

Furthermore, the broadcasts feature a host, who takes the broadcast from the featured match to one of the other matches when a goal happens.

Also, select UEFA Champions League matches will also air across the country on the TUDN Radio network and the TUDN Radio channel on SiriusXM.

Finally, many pubs/sports bars air live Champions League and Europa League matches throughout the season. Moreover, some European club websites even provide a list of supporter groups here in America, along with each specific city’s home pub.

For example, here is a list of Arsenal supporters in the U.S.

Why are the Europa league games not being televised? On Paramount+ it just keeps saying will return in August 2022 which is 2/3 over with

They have the rights to the Group Stage onwards. Today’s playoff games haven’t been acquired by a US broadcaster, but a couple of the games can be found on the One Football app.

Hi Chris, is anyone broadcasting the UCL qualifiers? FCI Levadia is now plying Vikingur Reykjavik. Don’t think this is covered anywhere. Used to see these games in different platforms before. Any news on this year’s matches? Thanks!

No one has picked up the rights to this game or any of the other qualifiers as of yet. We’ll update the schedule if/when someone picks up some of the games.

A Natural Stadium feel would be cool but international broadcast announcers would be perfect as well. It would really enhance that football feeling. How was Golazo zone if anyone knows is it any good? Why can’t they add this feature to the Serie A. I’m really excited for Club football to begin so much to watch. Forza Napoli!!!

    August 18, 2021 at 7:46 pm

@JP Agree. All games should have a ‘natural stadium’ language option. Sometimes I prefer a stadium feel, without hearing BS from commentators.

If I wasn’t “working” at the same time this would actually be great, however need commentary while working to get the heads up when action/chances are imminent.

    July 23, 2021 at 4:00 pm

@Michelangelo I agree. I would love to hear the games in several languages. I already know what most of the commentators are saying anyway – after all, I am seeing the same game as they are.
BTW, it was a nice touch from ESPN to show the goal narrations is several languages in their Euro tonight show.

The Europa League and the Champions League have provided a fantastic broadcast. The Goalazo zone is fantastic so we can watch all the matches at the same. We need to add more language for commentary such as Italian, Spanish, German, and French. This will create a beautiful variety and diversity when it comes to the beautiful game. We need to do what the Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, and also the Premier League. Would love to see more legends as well such as Alessandro Del Piero, Christian Vieri, David Beckham and more. What if Paramount Plus works with other broadcasters to create a super experience.

Not interested in TNT/Turner broadcasts. Watching only on the Spanish channels or by other means if the game I want to catch is not available.
Same position about ESPN Plus and the NBC Gold. I already pay for cable/DirecTV. Not paying the greedy corps an extra dime, sorry. Enough is enough at some point.

I canceled B/R Live in November. The app is terrible and website is not much better. When the deal for UEFA was announced, I installed the app, saw how bad it was, and assumed they would have a nice new app launching to coincide with day one matches. After seeing what an undertaking it was just to add the spoiler-free option, I had enough. At least with Fox, I logged in and saw nothing but soccer. With B/R Live, you cannot get rid of basketball, golf, and whatever else they’re pushing. I realize UEFA only cares about money, but B/R is embarrassingly bad. For now, I’ll watch TNT on YTTV. If they do not televise LFC v Bayern, I can listen to live audio on LFCTV (subscription) and watch the match the next day. It’s funny to think I miss Fox.

    • Thom

      July 29, 2020 at 10:48 am

B/R opted out of their contract. When the tournament restarts next week, all the games will be on CBS All Access. They now have the rights through the 2024/25 season.

    January 6, 2019 at 9:47 pm

Turners money is as green as everyone else . It is just they paid more 60 million a season for the rights to the Champions League & Europa League for the next 3 seasons . Their coverage on TNT sucks and prices on B/R Live is outrageous for the sub standard performance they produce . They are certainly are not making money on that as the technical staff they have to attend streaming problems is just non – existenced . A total waste of resources which they will learn as time goes on

  17. josesa

    January 6, 2019 at 9:10 pm

    Azer,
Why would UEFA have cancelled probably very lucrative contract with Turner Sports? Because of poor studio hosts and analysts, because poor streaming quality on B/R platform, because of less games on “real” TV? Like any other corporation in modern capitalism they care only and only about money.

    Chris,
Do you have the final numbers in bidding process for UCL TV/streaming rights in the USA?

    • Azer

      January 7, 2019 at 10:30 am

      Josesa,
You are correct but something needs to be done, this cannot continue. Turner Sports is beyond terrible. No UCL games on it’s other channels like TBS or TruTv. No Europa League at all except the Final. We’re going back to the 1990’s when there was only 1 UCL game shown per matchday on ESPN with Derek Rae & Tommy Smyth doing commentary.

  18. Azer

    January 6, 2019 at 7:02 pm

UEFA made a huge mistake doing any business with Turner Sports. We need to tell UEFA how we feel. The viewers in the USA need to flood their offices with emails, letters, whatever. If you’re on vacation in Europe, take a train to UEFA’s headquarters in Switzerland I believe it is and tell them how you feel. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying any of this is easy but we can’t just sit around and do nothing. Have you guys seen the B/R website, It’s from the dark ages. UEFA made a deal with the Devil but it can overcome this tragedy. Don’t bother contacting the idiots at Turner, they’re sleeping on their bleachers, go straight to the source.

  19. Patrick

    January 6, 2019 at 9:46 am

Looking at getting B/R live but a little confused.
    1) Will B/R show full champion’s league games?
    2) Will they have the games recorded for later viewing as I have to work during the day?
    3) Finally if they show the games recorded will they hide the scores?

    Thxs

    Pat

    • JP

      January 6, 2019 at 10:54 am

At this point wouldn’t bother with B/R Live if I were you. Now that it’s in the knockout stage and only two matches a day should be covered. If they carry over the practice of 1pm and 3pm windows in the knockouts as they had in the group stage then all matches will be shown on TNT anyway.

      • Christopher Harris

        January 6, 2019 at 1:34 pm

During the rest of the Champions League, you’ll need B/R Live more than ever.

TNT will only show one game per Champions League matchday on television, which means that the other game that day won’t be televised in English-language.

        • Patrick

          January 6, 2019 at 2:58 pm

      Patrick, to answer your questions:

      1) Yes.

      3) There’s a ‘no spoiler’ option so you can make sure scores are hidden.

    Hi

I don’t speak Spanish but I have no choice but to get the 4 following spanish channels ( Univision Deportes, UniMas, Univision & Galavision)!
I can’t miss the champion’s league (Go PSG!!!)
I don’t want any streaming services, I want it on my TV. I currently have dish network and the contract with these 4 spanish channels wasn’t renewed.
Which cable company carries these channels? Does directv do?

    Thanks

Three cheers for Univision and its affiliated channels (Univision Deportes, UniMas & Galavision)!
They are showing FIVE live Champions League games per matchday. Unlike puny TNT, which is showing only one. Buy the way, it’s not that TNT is giving them permission to show all those games. Univision, which is as powerful a company as Turner’s outfit, signed a separate contract with UEFA.

    October 3, 2018 at 12:08 pm

this sounds like a conspiracy to me. you guys are trying to make it hard for soccer fans to watch games (in English). I have been paying for fubotv for over a year now and still wont be able to watch key games in English language. LIVE is not an option for 99% of the population that is at work at 1pm on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. You are trying for sports fans to switch to football/baseball/basketball/hockey because of the frequent commercial breaks money!!! this has always been an issue with soccer in US. You have brainwashed people for years into watching games with frequent commercial breaks. no wonder 70% of the us population is overweight – if one can play ‘sports’ without physical fitness (football – run 30s / rest 2min) baseball (run 10s / rest 5min).

    • JP

      October 3, 2018 at 1:29 pm

The brainwashing about football has crossed my mind a lot. It’s the perfect vehicle for advertisements. When I was younger didn’t care for football all that much (was a basketball and hockey fan), but slowly bought into the hype and became a huge fan….less so these days as I cannot stand the commercials anymore.

WOW OMG you guys solved this! Wow my head is spinning with this new information you laid out……..I bet Soros and the Koch brothers and the tri lateral commission are all involved also! Can’t believe you put this together, we need to a leader that will put in place an edict that Soccer is on free TV 24/7! Lets get some great soccer minds like Grant Wahl and Kartik and whoever else to put a strategy together where we march on Washington.

This is utter B/S. I have this thing called a job during the day so record CL/Europa matches especially those involving Premiership teams in the evening. TNT is about to ruin coverage of the world’s premier club competition for English speakers in the U.S. TNT you suck!!!

  25. Boss

    September 20, 2018 at 1:05 pm

For years…. FOX Sports broadcast virtually all Premier League team games in the Champions League and Europa League over cable TV!!!!!!

Now TNT has moved 5 of the 6 EPL team games to freaking Mexican TV!!!!! Pathetic!!!! And I will not pay extra to watch the games on the web either!!!!

    • Payasos

      October 3, 2018 at 4:13 pm

Mexican TV? Good grief you’re clueless, you know TNT does not own or have any part of Univision right????? TNT has those games on B/R live, why doesn’t it shock me that you can’t pay $10 a month for it?????

    September 20, 2018 at 12:45 pm

This is going backward, not forward. I can’t say enough how disappointed I am in the downgrade of TV coverage in the US over the last 10 years. Remember when DTV had every single PL match, every single match day, each on it’s own dedicated channel, and it was all FOR FREE! And it was the broadcasts straight from english tv too. Remember when so many people were complaining about Fox? How do those people feel now?…

    • Payasos

      October 3, 2018 at 4:21 pm

I feel great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And please let us all know how you got Direct TV for free??????? If you get a bill for something it’s NOT FREE!!!!!!!!!! What is it with people on here thinking this was free before or that ESPN 3 was free?

      • BFT

        October 4, 2018 at 12:38 pm

Don’t be dense! People got all the games before with their cable subscription. That’s no longer the case because the networks decided based on the cable ratings to outbid each other into paying insane amounts of money for rights to games. They’re now trying to pass the cost of their bad decisions to consumers. And make no mistake, they still want you to pay for both cable AND their premium platforms since neither has all the games. It’s the case with B/R Live, NBC Sports Gold and ESPN+. That decision will go down in flames because they won’t get as many subscribers as they had hoped, the cost of rights stays where it is and football becomes less available to us all in the US. Everyone loses.

But Payasos the keyboard warrior with his extra question marks and exclamation points wants to lecture us on what networks paid a bunch of money for and as such have a right to charge whatever they want for it.

  27. Brigitte Spitler

It is a shame what’s happening this season and unfortunately for many more seasons as well. I grew up with soccer, was delighted to be able to watch so many games here in the US. Thanks to greedy companies the interest for soccer will go down the drain. More and more kids play soccer, love to watch it and now? I for sure will not pay all this extra money and have to listen to Spanish speaking commentators . I don’t speak Spanish! So extremely disappointed!

    • Payasos

      October 3, 2018 at 4:19 pm

Very disappointed in the reduced programming in the US this year. Honestly, I rarely have time to watch the full games anyway, so in recent years I’ve relied on the nightly UEFA Champions League Highlights show to catch me up on the games and see all the sweet goals. It doesn’t look like Turner/TNT is going to be showing anything like that.

TNT will televise 46 UEFA Champions League games throughout the season. The remaining games will be on B/R Live.

Hey Chris! Are you getting paid by TNT???? You seem to be defending the FACT that TNT has moved more games to the web and Mexican TV…. This years coverage is a disaster for any US soccer fan who speaks English! Fox and ESPN before them, provided HD TV coverage with English speaking announcers for virtually all EPL team games…. Now Turner networks has removed EPL teams from cable TV, while they also try to BLACKMAIL the fans into paying extra to watch games on a crap smartphone or laptop…. This is terrible!!!
