Tim Howard kept yet another clean sheet as he move merseyside seems to have paid dividends for Everton in this derby. Howard’s return to form has been great news for US Soccer, and he seems more comfortable dealing with David Moyes than he did with Sir Fergie. (Even though former teammate Wayne Rooney feels the opposite!)
Newcastle 1 2 Fulham
A banner day for US Soccer as Brian McBride scored a great goal to draw Fulham even with the Magpies, and then Carlos Bocanegra came off the bench and scored the game winning goal in his first action of the premiership season.
Bolton 1 0 Watford
Jay DeMerit did not play as a game Watford side fell yet again late.
Sheffield United 0 0 Blackburn Rovers
Brad Friedel made two penalty saves to run his total of penalty saves to three for the season. Otherwise this game was a bore.
Reading 1 0 Man City
Bobby Convey assisted on Ivar Ingimarsson first half goal on a free kick. Marcus Hannehman posted a clean sheet saving s hot by Claudio Reyna early in the first half. Recent Man City acquisition DeMarcus Beasley was not part of match squad, due to injury according to Manager Stuart Pearce on the official Man City FC podcast.
Johann Smith (Bolton), Cory Gibbs (Charlton), and Jonathan Spector (West Ham United) did not play due to injury.

Spurs have real trouble finishing and I don’t believe Martin Jol has yet settled on a lineup. The fact that he seems to never want DeFoe and Keane on the pitch at the same time indicates to me some chemistry issues exist within the side. That having been said, Spurs should have gotten a point from Man U on Saturday.
The two losses to Bolton and Everton were total disgraces. Everton with 10 men dominatd the match and Bolton scored twice early. Getting Ledley King back helps, but besides Edgar Davids nobody on Spurs is matching last season’s perofmance thus far.
I cannot possibly explain Liverpool’s poor form. What are your thoughts? You’re obviously a Reds fan. What the heck is going wrong for them? Saturday’s match was total failure at all levels.
Arsenal’s finishing is worse than even Spurs. Van Pierse has a high work rate but couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn to use an American expression. Henry isn’t getting adequete service and keeps coming back into midfield to create opportunities. Quite honestly, Arsenal is lucky they have salvaged two draws. They could easily be at the bottom of the table with 0 points.

I had too hoped this would be a pro MLS site resisting all the bashing of our young league that is taking place. Instead, this has proven to be a place for the eurosnobs to congregate and to run down american soccer.

Since you guys on this site seem disinterested in our league and the player development going here I am signing off this site. Kartik, I do not care about the “EPL Yanks.” This move to Europe has ruined our national team. All of these players were developed by MLS, yet you do not cover MLS. Our MLS side defeated the league champion Chelsea and our worst team drew with Everton, one the best EPL clubs, yet you ignore our league totally.
Our national team has fallen on hard times because of eurosnobs like the those on this website. MLS built the depth of our player pool while Europe has frustrated our players and destroyed the flow and cohesion of our national team. Next world cup I’d take a team full of MLS stars to South Africa plus Tim Howard from the EPL and say to hell with all these guys who have been pushed by the media and the USSF to go play in Europe. What exactly has Europe done for DeMarcus Beasley or Eddie Lewis?
