What Does Fox Soccer Plus Look Like In HD?

As of press time, no TV provider is broadcasting Fox Soccer Plus in HD. Fox Soccer Plus is on DirecTV, DISH Network and Verizon FiOS, but each of the three channels are only showing the channel in SD.

But what would Fox Soccer Plus look like in HD if you could see it?

Thanks to an anonymous EPL Talk reader, here’s what it looks like. He was able to send us these screengrabs from Fox Soccer Plus’s distribution feed. He notes that “The quality is marginal as the backhaul feed from England was standard definition PAL > compressed down to 9 MHz bandwidth for satellite uplink across the pond > framerate conversion from PAL to NTSC somewhere in the food chain > upscaled to high definition 720p for FOX Soccer Plus distro.”

Nevertheless, it gives us a taste of what we can expect in the future whenever one of the TV providers in the United States broadcasts Fox Soccer Plus in HD.

Who cares? I would be surprised if Comcast and Fox get their acts before the next season starts.

World Cup games are around the corner in HD with Martin Tyler and the boys, What can we ask more? Thank you ESBN.

I already lost appetite for all other competitions which is normal in a Word Cup year. Honestly I don’t mind streaming it. I hope they get their acts together before next season starts.

Last week we sent a message to TWC Columbus asking about FS+ and FSC HD and received this update today:

‘Hello, Currently our plans are to add FOX Soccer Plus in its SD version to your lineup at the end of this month. I am sorry, but we do not have a timeline as to when its HD version or FOX Soccer Channel HD will be added. Thank you.’

I’ll post an update if/when we hear more (date, prices, etc).

This is such a joke rollout. It would make sense that providers carrying FS+ would also have HD. They aren’t going to charge more than $15 so what could they be negotiating. I hope this gets resolved soon.

“the backhaul feed from England was standard definition”

…expect this to change! If its live in the UK its produced in HD. i’m sure FOX just need to establish relations with non-Sky UK broadcasters

Exsqueeze me, but this is supposed to make me want this channel?

So is Direct TV broadcasting FSC or not? When I search using this tool http://foxsoccer.channelfinder.net/start.asp is says it is available in HD in my area. The picture is 4:3 and the channel doesn’t show in the HD channels. If this is their idea of HD it is terrible!

Ed, DirecTV is broadcasting FSC but not in HD at this time. DISH Network is currently the only TV provider showing FSC in HD to my knowledge.

Have you heard any updates on the addition of FSC HD on Direct TV?

A friend of mine was in Norway on business and his hotel had FSC+. In fact we chatted on facebook as I watched England on veetle, and he watched in HD FSC+ in Norway.
Then again we live in a country where a cable provider today cut ABC over a dispute.

    There’s a post stating:

From TW’s online channel changes page for NYC:

“On or about April 5, 2010 we will launch Fox Soccer Plus on ch. 460 and Fox Soccer Plus HD on ch. 470. Both services will be part of our sports tier.”

The sports tier! C’mon Comcast do the same now and add both FS+ channels to the sports tier.

I don’t buy it for a second. A few people have made such a claim that FS+ would be available on a sports tier. None have turned out to be true.

I still can’t get FSC HD on my comcast subscription, but at least I can get deer hunting and polish motorcycle racing in HD. Thanks Comcast!

You can’t forget about cartoons in HD too. I mean cartoons in HD are definitely way better than soccer in HD..right comcast?
