Brian Clough On Malcolm Allison (Video)

I was saddened to hear this past weekend that Malcolm Allison, the legendary former manager of Manchester City, passed away at the age of 83.

No one apart from Brian Clough summed up 70s and 80s English football better than Malcolm Allison. He was always a joy to listen to on television and his clubs played good football. So in the above video from August 1973, we get to see and hear what Brian Clough thought of Allison, the footballer and manager.

And as a bonus, here is a must-watch video of Malcolm Allison criticizing Alan Mullery’s 1970 World Cup performance for England. Brian Moore opens the segment and later on pundit Jimmy Hill adds his insight.

Ok, I know I’m biased but, what about Bob Paisley??

I meant no one summed up the attitude as well as Clougie and Allison. Paisley was and is a legend but he’s not synonymous with the 70s attitude. He was a wonderful man, but was pretty quiet compared to the flashy Allison and cheeky Clough.

      Cheers,

Bob Paisley won more trophies than Clough and Allison combined. And there was never a hint of controversy with Bob. A quiet man who let his teams speak for him and his results speak for themselves.
