EPL Talk Announces Winners of 2012 EPL Awards

More than 61,000 votes cast by soccer fans worldwide to recognize the best of the 2011-12 English Premier League (EPL) season

We’re proud to announce today the winners of our 4th annual EPL Awards, sponsored by Football Media. The 2012 winners are chosen by the readers and editors of EPL Talk, and honor the best soccer content and performances of the 2011-12 Premier League season.

“We rely on the EPL Talk readers to drive our annual readers choice awards, because they are among the most demanding and knowledgeable soccer fans on the planet,” said EPL Talk Editor and Publisher Christopher Harris. “Websites, podcasts and blogs are critical to keeping soccer fans constantly updated throughout the season, so when a nominee earns recognition in our awards, it really means something.”

The EPL Awards are based on the responses of thousands of EPL Talk readers, who voted from May 2 to May 13, 2012. The online ballot, which was compiled by the editors of EPL Talk, included more than 400 nominees. What rubbish? It doesn’t take a United fan to tell you that De Gea besides his slip at the start, has been consistently great for the vast majority of the year. De Gea is absolutely world class, and he’ll show it again next season.

Johnny Evans? DeGea? You serious? I love the United Community and everything, but let’s be realistic here.

  64. Alex Wolcott

    May 15, 2012 at 9:30 am

De Gea is not bad by any stretch, and seems to have some real potential but WTF!?!?

Of course I am going to be biased toward Joe Hart anyway, But even if not that, I’d have to agree that this is an example of the ManUbots distorting the voting. Best keeper? This guy at one point lost his starting job and only got it back when Lindegaard got hurt.

I’d think that “lost starting job” or “got lit up for most goals in a match allowed in history of Old Trafford” should be disqualifiers as far as award eligibility goes.

      May 15, 2012 at 9:43 am

that was the “man united fans mobilizing better than other fans”..nothing more than a popularity contest. there was no thought aside from man u fans voting for their players. no objective decision making there. thank goodness for the editor’s picks to make this worthwhile.

      • Slugs

        May 15, 2012 at 9:44 am

I have been a United supporter for the last 15+ years and even I voted for Hart, Dempsey, and Kompany in ther respective categories.

I’m sure plenty of people voted for who the liked and not who was actually the best.
