Gareth Bale has become just the third man to be crowned PFA Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in the same season. Bale picked up the two trophies tonight in an awards ceremony, and joins Andy Gray and Cristiano Ronaldo on the proud achievement.
Meanwhile in London, the Professional Footballers’ Association named their PFA Team of the Year, which was:
De Gea (Manchester United), Zabaleta (Manchester City), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Vertonghen (Tottenham Hotspur), Baines (Everton), Hazard (Chelsea), Carrick (Manchester United), Mata (Chelsea), Bale (Tottenham Hotspur), Suarez (Liverpool), Van Persie (Manchester United)

Great i was secretly hoping that Bale wins the award, now i am sure that my bet on Tottenham finishing 5th is a STONEWALL CERTAINTY.
On a lighter note, how about David De Gea being in the Team of the Year ahead of GOLDEN BOY JOE HART, i would love to hear the pundit who likened DDG to Massimo Taibi react, it goes to demonstrate the saying DONT JUDGE A BOOK BY IT’S COVER.

Farsenal need to get results v 2 clubs fighting for their BPL survival. Perhaps ‘array can get qpr to get a draw at lofts road… But he’s a childhood Farsenal fan so not likely. Wigan at the emirates will be interesting if they get a point or 3 then it puts more and more pressure on Newcastle…..
S right now I want Wigan to draw their next game and have to go into the emirates needing a win…. Then hopefully Newcastle are still in free fall and need a home win v Farsenal on the last day to keep them up.
Based off of the sham that was the man utd and CFC games Swansea were so not interested it was pathetic… A horrible game of football…. Man utd were not clinical at all and I expect them to be just as soft v CFC this Sunday, the game v Everton will be interesting… I think Moyes will want to try to secure a higher finish than LFC so will try a lot harder.
Te biggest thing in all this is Spurs own performances…Southampton will set up to frustrate… I don’t think they will take the Swansea approach and just go into it with a training game mentality.
We play 3 games in 1 week at the end of the season… It’s only right that the decider is v CFC (if we get a win against a better organized Southampton that is). Crazy game to have on a Wednesday but also coincidently my birthday, which means… We’ll loose… LOL… Be a great present if we won tho. I hope it’s not as nail biting as described above… I want Farsenal to drop points v QPR and put the cat amongst the pigeons.

Don’t worry Dust we will do our part and take care of the rent boys on sunday. SAF will have them fired up for the game as he won’t want to lose to the fat Spanish waiter. Most Utd fans would rather see Arsenal and spurs get the champions league spots so spurs just need to win out the final few games.

I don’t think anyone can argue that Bale, Suarez and RVP were the top 3 candidates and any one one of them winning it would be justified. Only Suarez winning it would have been unacceptable to some because of his conduct not his ability. City’s Mancini thought Suarez should be PFA POTY. All 3 have been important to their teams and a case could be made for any one of them winning the POTY.

Well for me RVP has been spectacular for united, but Gareth bale has been more spectacula 4 tottenham this 12-13 season. United can win crucial games without RVP, but spurs hardly wins such with bale absent. Bale deserves the awards.

PFA votes are cast by PLAYERS! Stop whining about bale winning it and making stupid statements like he’s only been playing well since January.
He was voted in both categories by players who go up against him week in and week out… It’s not a fan award it’s for peers…..
Honestly, it’s such nonsense…..
All the pros also Boo’d suarez’s name when it was announced…. Again… His peers Boo’d him…. So enough with the ridiculous blind support of someone who is not respected by fans, the media AND his peers… Because of his conduct on the field, this has nothing to do with off the field, his on the field wrap sheet is unrivaled.

It was only ever going to be RVP or Bale that wins. Other than his goals Suarez has done nothing. They are 7th in the league and have beaten one team above them all season which is hardly a great record for the leagues best player award.
RVP is top goal scorer and won the league. Bale has put spurs on the brink of champions league football with his goals. I’m probably a little biased but I would have given RVP POTY and Bale YPOTY that way they both get the recognition they deserve. Since RVP didn’t get it I’m ok with bale getting the award.

The voting took place before the Suarez biting incident (and the RVP hat trick against Villa) so I don’t see how RVP was in line to win it over Suarez. If it is done at the end of the season (like any of these types of awards should be) then I would agree with your statement.
Your statement that “Other than his goals Suarez has done nothing” is comical as that is what he is on the pitch to do (and outdid everyone else in the league at it at the time of voting). Despite this, he also chipped in 5 assists and led the league in successful dribbles, demonstrating his talent is more pervasive than just an appetite for goal (bad pun intended). Citing team achievements really shouldn’t be a determining factor in an individual award, especially when defensive lapses that Suarez had no part in are the main reason LFC are so far down the table.

Not in this case. As a LFC supporter I tipped Bale to win the award because he’s been THE key player to move Spurs closer to that CL spot and he’s viewed as a “clean” player, though he isn’t…not really.

You have no idea what you are talking about… the PFA awards are voted by the players these people are nominated by their peers…also…the premier league is 70% foreign players, so think about it….voted for by players and the players population is overwhelmingly NOT English.
I’m pretty sure these guys that go up against each other season each week no more than you about who contributes what on the field.

At the end of the day Bale has swept all before him and made several international full backs look stupid in the extreme.
