Orlando City Soccer Club won the 2013 USL PRO Championship Game Saturday night after defeating Charlotte Eagles 7-4 in front of 20,886 fans at the Citrus Bowl in downtown Orlando.
The 20,000+ attendance was the largest attendance ever for an Orlando City game and an USL PRO match.
“To play in front of more than 20,000 tonight was amazing,” said Orlando City Head Coach Adrian Heath. “It’s a little bit surreal because I’ve never been involved in a game like that in my life (scoring 7 goals).“
The attendance Saturday night shattered the club’s former mark of 11,220 set in the 2011 USL PRO Championship Game by more than 9,800 fans. The attendance also set a new USL PRO record.
Congratulations to Orlando City for breaking the attendance record, and showing that there’s enough demand in Central Florida for a MLS team.

Bruce Arenas is the last person to starting whining- SKC plated last night without Zusi-Beisler-Kei Kamara-Peterson Joseph and Jerome- we won 3-0 every league deals with this- Bruce I know you need your superstars but sometimes you actually have to coach a little -might need to give up your 1:00 massage and manicure

What this is showing is that we have enough clubs with support to at least have a 2-3 tier relegation and promotion system.
A 5-7 year plan could be started right now at the end of which there could be 3 tiers of 14-20 teams. But no, we cant do that; lets just turn mls into an nfl style league with 35 teams split into conferences amd divisions so the casual sports fans who dont like soccer anyway can understand it.

You’re more likely to see the EPL ditch pro/rel than it to happen in the United States.

I’d love to see pro/rel in American soccer, but I don’t think it’ll happen anytime soon. It just isn’t in the MLS’s interest to go in that direction. And they really don’t need to address it when they can keep adding these stronger teams via expansion.
But, the problem with that is it is exclusionary to the rest of American soccer fans who don’t have an MLS club to support. For everyone not in an MLS market, the MLS is nothing more than the 6th or 7th best soccer product on TV. It’s like the Scottish league. I enjoy the Scottish league when I have time, but I’m never going to make time for it.
But, if you had pro/rel, I might be interested in seeing who was at the bottom of MLS and might be playing my local club next year OR who my local club might be playing if/when we get promoted. Otherwise, I’ll just watch my local club live and when I watch on TV, I’ll watch the best (which is European soccer).

You are right. It is not in MLS’ interest. But that is where USSF should come in. Where else does the f.a. just leave club football alone and let its leagues do whatever the bloody eck they want?
