Rangers Schedule Friendlies in US, Canada and Scotland

Glasgow Rangers Football Club will be touring Scotland, Canada and the United States in a pre-season tournament this summer. Starting July 1, Rangers will head to Scotland for a 6-day trip where they will play Buckie Thistle on July 3 at Victoria Park then will face-off against Brora Rangers in Dudgeon Park on July 6.

Following games in Scotland, Rangers travel to the United States where they will play two games in California. Their opponents will be Ventura County Fusion on July 15 in the Ventura College Sportsplex. They will then be heading to Sacramento to play Sacramento Republic FC on July 19 at Bonney Field.

From California, the Gers then head to Canada to play Victoria Highlanders at Centennial Stadium in British Columbia on July 21. The second game, set to be played on July 23, will be determined at a later day.

Manager Ally McCoist is excited for the the upcoming games. “I am delighted our pre-season plans are now in place and we can prepare for next season’s important campaign in the Championship.”

Rangers have a large fan base in Northern America thanks to NARSA, the North America Rangers Supporters Association, and expect large attendances at their games.

However, for a club with the history of Glasgow Rangers Football Club, you would expect Rangers to be playing more high-profiles games in the States and Canada.

Founded in 1872, Rangers were one of the founding clubs in the Scottish Football League and remained in the top division until 2012. Rangers have won more domestic league titles and trebles than any other club in the world. They have won the league 54 times, Scottish Cup 33 times and the Scottish League Cup 27 times. The Gers also won the treble in all three seven times and were the first British League club to reach the UEFA final.

“The trip to America and Canada is also a fantastic opportunity to re-introduce Rangers to the North American fans and I am confident the tour will be a success on a number of levels,” said McCoist.
