In a huge blow to Ghana’s chances of defeating Portugal today, the Ghana Football Association has announced that both Kevin Prince-Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been suspended indefinitely from the national team and will not be playing in today’s crucial FIFA World Cup game against Portugal.
The Ghana FA has withdrawn Sulley Muntari’s accreditation as a World Cup player, and has issued the following statement:
“The decision was taken in the wake of his unprovoked physical attack on an Executive Committee member of the GFA and a management member of the Black Stars, Mr. Moses Armah on Tuesday 24th June, 2014 during a meeting.”
Meanwhile, Kevin Prince-Boateng has also been suspended indefinitely, and has his accreditation pulled as a player in the World Cup. The Ghana FA explained:
“The decision was taken following Boateng’s vulgar verbal insults targeted at coach Kwesi Appiah during the team’s training session in Maceio this week.”
You have to wonder what Ghana’s morale will be like going into today’s crucial game against Portugal at Noon ET/9am PT today based on today’s controversy.

I dont get it..why can’t these players play 3-7 games free for their country once in 4 years. This is not a meaningless friendly but rather the worldcup finals.
Another question is what are FA of these african countries doing with the money they bring in from friendlies, African cups etc.

I Don’t get that either. I’d play for my country for free.
I never used to know that players got paid to play for their country. Some of these performances have been downright horrible and they’re getting paid for it.

@Owen, with qualification, not including friendlies, btw – ask Itay’s Montalivo and his broken leg, if friendlies are ever “meaningless”, it’s probably 3x that amount of matches they play just to get to the WC.
You basically answered your own question. All players get paid for WC appearances + bonuses, and it seems that (shockingly?) the Ghanian FA had wobbled AGAIN, on paying its players as they were promised.

These players are disgrace for Africa. What a black eye for African football. Cameron players did the same. Rumors that some IvoryCost players were paid to underplay adds to the very sad situtaiton. No wonder African countries can’t progress in World Cup because of such evil.I am sick and tired of these players. Shame Shame Shame to Africa.

You have to admire Ghana for taking this action despite the fact it will hurt their chances of beating Portugal. Good for them for having such integrity.
