Ron Vlaar’s Agent Puts Arsenal and Man Utd On Alert By Saying Defender Is Ready For Big Move

Aston Villa defender Ron Vlaar’s agent has put clubs on alert by admitting that his client has put himself in a position to make a “nice big move”.

The 29-year-old Holland International has already told manager Paul Lambert that he will remain at the Birmingham club past the January transfer window. But Vlaar’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and he will be allowed to talk to clubs during the next transfer window.

Manchester United and Arsenal are a few of the clubs who have been linked with the Aston Villa centre-back.

Vlaar’s agent Arnold Oosteveer told the Dutch publication Voetbal International:

“It is obvious that for Ron, now is the moment to make a nice big move in his career.”

“Ron is very ambitious. The situation is ideal for Ron right now.”

“You can imagine that we are not in a hurry. I don’t want to react to the rumors that he will go to either Arsenal or Manchester United, but Ron is very ambitious.”

Aston Villa is currently 16th on the Premier League table with eleven points after eleven league matches. Vlaar has been one of the Villains best performers this season, as well as since joining the club from Feyenoord in 2012. He has made 72 appearances for Aston Villa over that period of time.

The 29-year-old defender became the focus of global attention following his strong displays for Holland during the country’s third-place finish at this summer’s World Cup in Brazil.

With Arsenal and Manchester United both suffering from a lack of defensive leadership, Aston Villa’s resolve could be tested by the Premier League giants in the forthcoming January window.

His problem has been staying healthy. If they can get cash for him, probably should do it – no guarantees how much playing time you’ll get from him after January anyway.

Pretty classy to say that he will remain with the club until the end of the season. I know he has a contract but so many players will work to get transferred as soon as possible. However, Villa could still get some cash for him in January, and with their current situation, that might be a better option than letting him walk for free six months later.

No way I can see him leaving in January. Credit to him, as captain he has class and has already told the club he isn’t leaving mid-year. However, there is no chance he resigns at Villa with this being his last big chance for a payday and coming off such a great WC. He deserves better than us anyway, so go kick on Ron!
