My daughter is a huge women’s soccer fan so I’ve been following the world cup with her. We attended the Vancouver championship game together, so I’ve started to follow more soccer. So, why does women’s soccer allow so much more pushing, hand checking and shoulder slams than is allowed in the men’s game?
This contact game sure favours the US team who are bigger and more savvy at these tactics.
Just watched USA v France and there was not one yellow card! No hand ball; no yellow for diving in the box, and no yellow for solid bodychecks!
FIFA must tighten the calls to eradicate the heavy contact. Soccer should not resemble hockey or lacrosse. Women’s soccer could turn into brawls and serious injuries.
If you don’t believe me, just watch an MLS game after watching a women’s match. The contact is startling.

Yes thanks Aram and WST – splendid job. Very cool. And thanks mrk181 because your comment made me [& others probably] aware of this knockout bracket post. WST rules. Just the tonic as the knockout stages get into overdrive.

Are you serious? All you do is take away 3 hrs for example if it says 3pm EST time then the game is at 12pm PST. It’s really not that difficult!
