Soccer fans wanting to watch the World Cup qualifiers beginning in October featuring national teams from South America’s CONMEBOL will need to pay more than ever before to watch the games.
In a deal struck earlier this year with Integrated Sports Media, the media rights holder in the United States has made the games available in both English and Spanish (as well as Portuguese for the games involving Brazil) via online streaming sites Fanatiz and FITE as well as through traditional pay-per-view methods such as DirecTV, DISH Network and iNDemand.
The broadcasts of the games are exclusive to the above-mentioned platforms. The only exception is the match between Venezuela and Paraguay, which will be live on beIN SPORTS XTRA.
To watch any of the World Cup qualifiers from the CONMEBOL region, the suggested pay-per-view retail price is $29.95 per game. Streaming provider FITE may offer match packages where you can access all of the games at a slightly discounted price. As well as offering each match separately, Fanatiz has created packages for each national team. You can pay per match or Fanatiz is offering the following bundles:
• Albiceleste bundle (Argentina)
• La Verde bundle (Bolivia)
• Canarinha bundle (Brazil)
• La Roja bundle (Chile)
• Cafeteros Bundle (Colombia)
• La Tri bundle (Ecuador)
• La Blanquirroja bundle (Perú)
• La Celeste bundle (Uruguay)
Each bundle includes two games from the national team, and is priced at $49.95 per bundle, which also includes three free months of a subscription to Fanatiz’s Basic Plan (available for new and current users).

Fanatiz is the streaming home of Latin American soccer in the United States with live games from Copa Libertadores, Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, Bolivia, Colombia, Uruguay plus LaLiga, Ligue 1, Copa Sudamericana, Portugal and more. The reliable streaming service has been serving soccer fans since launching in 2018.
On Fanatiz, games will be available live as well as on-demand for 72 hours after each game ends.
With Fanatiz, even if you currently have a subscription to their Basic Plan, that won’t include the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying games. The CONMEBOL World Cup qualifying games are above and beyond what you currently get with Fanatiz if you already subscribe to the streaming service. Again, the only exception is that Venezuela-Paraguay game that will be available via the free beIN SPORTS XTRA streaming channel.
FITE is a new entry to the world of streaming soccer games. The streaming service specializes in boxing, wrestling, MMA and motorsports. Its coverage of the CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers is their first entry into the world of streaming major soccer games. Learn more about FITE on their website.
Originally scheduled to be played in March 2020, the matches have been delayed several times due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Round 1 of the matches begin Thursday, October 8 (see schedule below). With the games being the first stage on each country’s pathway to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, these games have massive implications. Round 2 begins Tuesday, October 13, so the games are coming thick and fast.
Obviously for the vast majority of soccer fans, the prices to watch these games will come with a sticker shock. In previous years, beIN SPORTS acquired the rights to the majority of CONMEBOL World Cup qualifiers. But during the past 12 to 24 months, beIN SPORTS have avoided bidding on a lot of rights that were available to them due to the amount of lost revenue they saw from people watching games illegally. With beIN SPORTS out of the picture, it allowed Integrated Sports Media to step in where their business model is based primarily on pay-per-view events.

Useless maybe isn’t the word because you can watch to gain more knowledge and get aspects of a match. But to avoid the world for 2 days and watch the match as live is not very convenient. VPN, FBLive, p2p are your friends.

Very disappointed WST would not even mention this on podcast but I guess their sponsors wouldn’t have been pleased with free options publicized, also disappointed that Chris would say these are useless when surely that’s up to us to decide.

Wonder what the sale or ratings were for these South American qualifiers via PPV. Hopefully it is low that they decide to stop putting these games on PPV and go back to BeIN or another channel. These prices are absurd in this age. It just pushes people to use VPN, look for illegitimate sites, boxes, etc (back to the 90’s).

I have Fanatiz USA so my family and I were so excited to see the World Cup Qualifying matches, only to find out they were charging for these games. We are not just angry, we are devastated. I honestly couldn’t believe it. I have been searching all over the internet for free websites but nothing. We pay for Xfinity, Fanatiz USA, ESP +, NBCSN, just to watch decent soccer matches. This cannot be real. We can’t afford to watch the beautiful game anymore.

If i’m unsuccessful watching it live through a VPN, I’ll be watching it 2 days later on bein through my Fanatiz subscription. On bein’s website they have the game listed on their programming. On Sat 10/10 Uruguay vs Chile will be on 6:30pm eastern and Argentina vs Ecuador will be at 8pm.

jstrummer I think that’s a good strategy however for me a delayed football match makes no sense… I like watching football live because that way I feel I can cheer for the teams, get mad when they miss goals , celebrate when they score etc… those are things that I can do when the game is on live, when the game is actually taking place … however if the game already took place it makes no sense to cheer or celebrate whenever my team scores or to cry when my team concedes a goal.

Nobody should pay- if viewers don’t sign up these greedy companies will lose money. Soccer should be on network tv.
People can’t afford to pay these outrageous prices. All about greed.
Soccer will only grow so much if it’s only for the elite who can pay these high fees.

Yes agree 100%- youth soccer is been destroyed on the emphasis of paying huge fees that only a small percentage of parents can afford.
Same is going on with the elite streaming that will only hurt the growth of soccer in the long run.

Here, and on the WST podcast, you & Kartik have noted that BeINSports. which had the US TV rights to CONMEBOL qualifiers in the past WC cycle, won’t be showing them live this time around as those rights went to others.
However, while BeINSports’ Website doesn’t have listings that far into the future, my set-top box’s TV listings claim that BeIN WILL be airing these matches on a 2-3 day delay. Time will tell if this is accurate, but, if it is, then it adds an interesting wrinkle to this story.

Well to be honest unless you go online and scroll results here where I live, I can save any game result forever since really nobody cares about “soccer”. I’m sure it’s not the case in every part of the country but that’s a good thing about oklahoma lol , I bet you I can watch every single qualifiers 2 days later on beinsports without knowing anything , that said thank you for this great website, awesome work !

Perhaps, Chris, but when the choice is between seeing the game live and paying handsomely for the privilege, and waiting a couple of days to see it even if I know the result (and maybe even saw highlights on my local Spanish-language newscast or sports recap program), I could definitely see at least some people bearing with the delay to see the entire match on their TV screen and avoiding the related expense in the process.

I’m a south American living in the U.S. and there’s no way I’m going to pay $30 bucks for any of those games… Why would anyone pay anything for a soccer match on tv? now, I can’t believe this is happening again! this used to happen back in 2002 but this didn’t happen during 2018 qualifying games.. It’s strange how U.S. tv networks only care about Mexican national team… they don’t even care about U.S. national team! I have seen how they show U.S. games on pay per view! ridiculous!

who!? who will buy these !? Seriously !! I’m french living in the US and back home our tv rights for ligue 1 changed and alot of people are boycotting the new broadcaster for charging 25 euros a month for 8 ligue1 games a week and 8 ligue2 games a week , people all around the world use more and more pirate streaming , torrents , with a vpn people from these south american countries living in US have access to their homeland tv network , and I don’t know 1 born and raised us citizen who will spent money to see a qualifier game ! They don’t even watch a free world cup game on fox ! So 25/30 bucks for a qualifier !??? When espn+ offers so much soccer for 6 a month , I really want to read somewhere how someone thought they could sell these games that expensive , how many purchases they target to be happy ? That’s the most mind blowing news I ever read on this website .

Interesting post ! by the way, congratulations for winning 2018 world cup! I’m a south american living in the U.S. and there’s no way I’m going to pay $30 for any of those games. Indeed I will try to watch the games online though to be honest that’s kind of difficult because usually FIFA or the network in charge of broadcasting those games in our countries, make sure that they don’t show those games anywhere on the internet so for instance, you can forget about watching any of those games on youtube.. As for south american nations, it seems that in most south american nations, the only matches they are going to show on local networks are the games involving their national teams… I find this strange because in the past they would show all games on any of the local tv networks…

If you really want watch them there is ways , quite a few streaming sites “free” can’t really say much on here , ask around I’m sure someone knows how to see these games , in France all the CONMEBOL qualifiers are on beinsports france , I’m still amazed about that move to make pay 30bucks for one game ! The US needs to get the games on bigger networks in orders to reach more people , if you want your national team to be on the top of the world you need kids being able to see these superstars !

Won’t stop the glory supporter types complaining that they now have to pay $50 a *season* to make sure they see all the games that their EPL team plays. Poor things no longer have 99% of their games on NBC or NBCSN.
Personally I’d put all Lpool & Man Utd games on PPV & charge them $100 a game.

Technically, you can’t buy On Demand access for EPL. SO if you get into a game late (start from the beginning), you have to wait until well after it is over to start it. It isn’t ideal.

This really makes me wonder why I subscribed to Fanatiz for a year. First, I need more dough to subscribe to a Brazilian package, then this incredible fee add-on to watch WC qualifiers.
