First, Europe. Then South America followed by North America. And now Asia. Paramount+ is acquiring soccer rights from around the world and bringing them into homes across the United States.
As part of a rights agreement with the Asian Football Confederation, Paramount+ has acquired the exclusive U.S. rights to the following competitions:
• AFC Men’s World Cup qualifying
• AFC Men’s Champions League
• AFC Men’s Asian Cup
• AFC Women’s Asian Cup (their World Cup qualifiers)
Those competitions, expected to begin in the fall of 2021, will grow Paramount+‘s soccer portfolio in the United States. The leading streaming provider already has the rights to the UEFA Champions League, NWSL, Europa League, Serie A, Concacaf Nations League, mens and women’s CONCACAF World Cup qualifiers, UEFA Conference League, Brasileirāo, Coppa Italia, Supercoppa Italiana, Copa de la Liga Profesional, and, beginning next year, the Supercopa Argentina.
The often neglected (in the United States, that is) Asian soccer competitions have finally found a regular home in this country. In previous years, everyone from DAZN to Eleven Sports to One World Sports and other broadcasters have showed games from the Asian region.
In addition to soccer coverage from around the world, Paramount+ offers access to tens of thousands of episodes from CBS, BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and Smithsonian Channel, as well as hundreds of iconic movies from Paramount Pictures — as well as live broadcasts of CBS, CBSN (CBS News), CBS Sports HQ and ET Live. Mercator: I watched A League more than any other soccer in February and March, because they had fans. The best ones were the Brisbaine Roar home games.

My biggest problem with Paramount+ and it is a big one is how they took the great franchise known as Star Trek and flushed it down the toilet with the garbage they have one now.
The soccer conent it has looks promising though. But ESPN+ has great stuff still as well with Bundesliga, English Football League, FA Cup, Spainish La Liga, Dutch Eredivise and content from Sweden, Belgium, and Denmark. Plus the National Hockey Leaguea and PGA Tour expanded coverage coming up. So its ESPN+ for me right now.

Is it confirmed coming to P+ in the US? I thought it was just an Australian rights deal. Either way ESPN+ already does a pretty good job with the A-League. Would much rather see P+ continue to add rights that otherwise wouldn’t be available, or to take rights from Bein.

@Jasinho that is confirmed when it comes to the A League heading to P+ in both Australia and the US although like you mentioned, the deal won’t start until next season since ESPN+ has the rights for the remainder of this season. From what I heard, the P+ plan for Australia not only involves the A League but also trying to get the rights to two of Australia’s biggest sports leagues the NRL (Rugby) & the big one the AFL (Australian Rules Football) from Fox’s Australian network. It is quite a bold plan for P+ because Fox has a strong relationship with both leagues dating back 25 years and if P+ got the rights, the games would be taken off of TV in Australia and be exclusively on streaming. I don’t know what that would mean for both leagues availability in the US because both the NRL and AFL currently have their games broadcast in the US on FS1/FS2 and if P+ got the rights in Australia, does that mean those games would be on P+ or CBS Sports Network here? We will see

I find it best to use the CBS sports app which displays all live games on paramount plus on the front page. You just have to sign in the app using your paramount plus credentials for access.

The only complaint I have is there is no tiles say like 2 or 3 down when you click on the app. Paramount plus makes it damn near impossible to find (random) games say if you are just clicking thru and think well let’s see what’s on right now. HULU has the sports section easily viewable on the main screen.
I am definitely happy that it seems all soccer content is going to 2 places as it will greatly make a soccer budget cheap for us.

I also heard that P+ got a five year deal to broadcast the A-League as a prelude to launching P+ in Australia. I wonder if that would soon translate to a US Deal after their season is over since the A-League is currently on ESPN+.
