2022/23 Serie A prediction: Who wins the Scudetto?

2022/23 Serie A prediction

If the 2022/23 Serie A prediction follows this past season, fans can start preparing for a dogfight at the top. With roughly 30 games played, there was reason to believe any of the top four could win the title last season. Juventus, Inter Milan, Milan and Napoli all put together strong domestic seasons.

In the end, it was Milan to emerge victorious as it won its first Scudetto since 2010/11. Overall, it was Milan’s 19th Serie A win.

However, Inter, which won in 2020/21, is looking for revenge. Same applies for Juventus. Despite finishing in the top four each of the last two seasons, supporters of the Old Lady are dissatisfied. Nothing but the best is the expectation in Turin. Last season, the Bianoconeri was far from it. Even without its most successful side, the Serie A title race from a season ago was its closest in over a decade.

With each of the major teams improving with new talent, expect the same kind of fireworks to transpire in 2022/23. Juventus, for its part, brought back midfielder Paul Pogba on a free transfer. The Frenchman starred during his first stint with Juventus, with both the player and club looking for a return to form. Inter Milan brought back a player of its own. Romelu Lukaku comes back to the San Siro after a disappointing season in London with Chelsea. Last time he wore the black and blue stripes, Inter won the Scudetto.

Defending champions Milan did not make too many splashes. Zlatan Ibrahimovic reupped his contract with the side, and Liverpool folk legend Divock Origi is another option up top.

Let us know in the comments how the 2022/23 Serie A prediction shapes up for your outlook on the season.

Not even naming Roma is beyond belief for me. I think they’re legit top 2. They had a great transfer window and with Spinazzola back, they are looking at 4-5 new starters from last season. Their point finish last year was lower than juve, but they did have multiple games where the referee got suspended afterwards for making mistakes that cost Roma maybe more than 10 points. Roma are definitely ahead of juve. The question is whether they closed the gap to inter.

Here’s my list partially based on educated guesses and some wishful thinking. Difficult since transfer window not closed and some major pieces (Zaniolo, Sergej, Fabian Ruiz, etc) still rumored to be on the move.

    1. Roma – No major losses yet on the transfer market, major additions like Dybala. Finished 2022 strong. This could be their year.
    .
    2. Inter – On paper no major weaknesses.
    .
    3. Napoli – Big losses on the transfer market, but some nice pieces added and some more rumored to come (Raspadori, Simeone).
    .
    4. Milan – They’ve done well to hold on to Leao, love the addition of De Ketelaere. But for some reason think they’ll take a step back this season.
    .
    5. Juventus – Chiesa returning back to health and Vlahovic for a full season will help, but don’t see much depth.
    .
    6. Fiorentina – Like how they’re building, love their style of play. They’ll be a difficult match for anyone.
    .
    7. Atalanta – Feels like they’re past their peak, but still talented enough for European contention
    .
    8. Lazio – Don’t love this team on paper, even less if Sergej actually moves on. But Sarri will get the most of whatever talent he has.
    .
    9. Torino – Losing Belotti could be addition by subtraction. He was stil expected to lead the line when his talents didnt’t warrant it anymore (mostly years of injuries). Now they can play a style to suit the entire club more. Key players to their 21/22 season in Brekalo and Pobega are gone though and that will hurt.
    .
    10. Monza – Only watched them once (Coppa Italia last week) but love their ambition on the transfer market. They’ll be a surprise top half of the table club
    .
    11. Sassuolo – Many key pieces left or leaving, but they always have a way of replenishing and playing decent until they hit another sell cycle in 2-3 years
    .
    12. Hellas Verona – 12 to 16 really a crap shoot. Verona losing Tudor as coach will hurt, don’t seem to be adding much on the field
    .
    13. Salernitana – red hot end to 2022 for salvation. Ownership clearly will do whatever it takes to improve.
    .
    14. Udinese – Again, seem to be losing more pieces than adding.
    .
    15. Bologna – Meh
    .
    16. Spezia – Meh
    .
    17. Sampdoria – Nothing excites about them, should be another difficult year where they flirt with relegation
    .
    18. Empoli – Wild guess
    .
    19. Cremonese – Based on no knowledge, just a hunch
    .
    20. Lecce – Seems worse than the 2019/2020 club that was relegated
