Declan Hill interview about match-fixing in soccer games

In the latest episode of our weekly interview series, we interview journalist and author Declan Hill, author of the critically-acclaimed book The Fix. Hill has just released a brand new book entitle The Insider’s Guide to Match-Fixing in Football, which is available via Amazon.

During the interview, a range of topics are discussed including how to stop match fixing, how prevalent match fixing is, why some leagues have more match fixing than others, and more.

Hosted by Kartik Krishnaiyer, Voices Of Soccer is our weekly program that will feature exclusive interviews with remarkable people from the world of soccer. In addition to Voices of Soccer, World Soccer Talk recently launched This Week In Soccer, a weekly discussion show — and Press ‘A’ To Shoot, a weekly show focused on soccer video games, computer games and Fantasy Premier League. Declan Hill is full of shit and just cares about selling his book . Corruption is rife in any organization. To pose as some saviour of football is just beyond the pale.

Great timing on this interview as I am currently reading The Fix. I was just discussing with my family that part of the problem with issues such as these is that there just isn’t enough concern to make a dent in change. This is a very general statement that I feel is across the board in scandals today.

If you look at sports scandals there is very little that actually changes. There are exposes written, outrage by fans, but then everyone moves on. This is just how it goes.

Just look at the scandals involving the World Cup, especially in 2022. Perhaps I am too cynical, but I just don’t see there being any changes made to how the workers are treated in Qatar. Maybe a handful of people will be helped, but nothing major will happen and it will continue.

This is the same with match fixing. It is infuriating that this would happen, but it will continue to happen and little will be done to stop it.
