   Where in the U.S. is Danny Higginbotham heading? ESPN? CBS? Earlier today he announced on Twitter his plans to leave domestic broadcasting for a job in the states

   Sinclair Broadcast Group reported an operating loss of $4.18 billion in its Q3 financial. How likely are they going to renew any “local TV deals” with MLS teams???

   Really enjoy your podcast but really don’t see the extremely high praise you see in ESPN soccer coverage I like Craig Burnly, Sebastian Salazar, Hercules Gomez(who should be more on tv than he has been) the rest are either smug Moreno, and especially Twellman come to mind or just say things that any podcast or so called soccer expert say on any soccer coverage. It’s more banter than substance and to me they are preparing to be major players for EPL rights when they are up for bid, if they do get EPL rights all this so called wonderful coverage of Bundesliga, Serie A would play second fiddle to EPL.

   With regard to MLS moving to streaming, I don’t see it happening for the next few years largely because many clubs still rely on local TV deals with either regional sports networks (ex: NBC Sports Bay Area or Fox Sports networks) or local over the air stations (ex: JoeTV in Seattle) to grow their fanbases although more clubs are moving to streaming deals (ex Sounders w Amazon Prime to show games to all of Washington state). This is especially the case in markets in which MLS is struggling to compete with the Big 4 (NHL, MLB, NBA and NFL) for fans both on TV and in the stands and in the new markets (ex: Nashville). If fans aren’t allowed in the stands in the majority of markets by the time next season starts, I would expect this trend to continue although it isn’t sustainable long term because of the fact that more people are cutting the cord which makes it all the more important that MLS gets their next TV deal right for the long term future of the league.

   With regards to CBS All Access… Last season within a short time of the final whistle replays were available on Prime (which I prefer to watch there than on CBS.com) This season seems to be all over the board as to when matches are available on Prime. Do you know if that has to do with technical issues they are experiencing? Also, despite disabling ad-block and refreshing my browser, UCL matches on CBS.com give error code 114. No error codes for TV or movies on CBS.com, only Champions League and Europa League as far as I can tell. I’m really annoyed by CBS so far this season and am ready to cancel and just watch them in Spanish on TUDN. Can you shed any light on these issues?

   In reply to Roberto, I would like to see an expanded CONCACAF Champions League that includes more Liga MX and MLS teams so that Central America and Caribbean’s teams are include and that would help those areas improve their soccer. But CONCACAF is moving the other direction by reducing the number of teams a few years ago (reducing to 16 team knock-out tournament). I would like to see a group stage of 32 teams with at least 12 from MLS (6 teams from Eastern Conference and 6 teams from Western Conference) and 10 from LigaMX with the remaining 10 coming from Central America and Caribbean.
   But MLS and LigaMX do not take the matches serious and WHY SHOULD THEY when the price money for WINNING the tournament is only $500,000!!! Compare to the winner of Copa Libertadores $12,000,000 and UEFA Champions League winner gets $22,000,000, even Asia’s AFC Champions League winner gets $4,000,000 and CAF Champions League winner get $1,000,000….. At least we are better than Oceania’s Champions League.

    Reply to the viewer mailbag where podcast listener El Jefe made a inaccurate claim about WNBA dominating MLS and the played out cornhole bit. Jefe is entitled to his own opinions but not the facts. WNBA doesn’t dominate MLS in rating thats plain FALSE. Corhole tournament is a once or twice a year event. A more accurate comparison of a already silly statement would be comparing it to MLS Cup. Anyway I find this whole thing silly and is more about a few Liga MX fans envious of MLS money. Speaking of Pro/Rel Liga MX doesn’t even have it as they are trying to move to a MLS model.

    Anyways I agree with your response Chris, I know you don’t agree with MLS model but at least you aren’t letting it cloud judgement. Can you call out some of these posters with outrages claims next time you bring them up on the pod mail bag.
