   Also note that Chivas Guadalajara wants nothing to do with Tu Deportes Network (TuDN) now that its contract with Univision Deportes has expired.

   Expect Chivas Guadalajara to jump to Telemundo Deportes, with live matches on Telemundo on weekends and exclusively on Universo during mid-week, if Chivas were able to extract from Comcast the right price.

     Before its big deal with Disney, FOX was interested in getting Chivas rights for FOX Sports MX + FOX Deportes in Spanish, FS1/FS2 in English… If that’s still on, they could make a play as well (FOX Sports MX will ultimately be divested, though…)

   La Liga is GONE from beIN Sports USA at end of cycle (May 2020) as La Liga has already hired a new rights broker Relevant Sports (Charlie Stillitano) to handle U.S. rights sale. Time for Kay Murray to look for her next job.

   FOX is NOT interested in La Liga. No synergy whatsoever now that FOX has exited almost all international markets. FOX Deportes already has Liga MX (Monterrey, Xolos Tijuana, and Santos Laguna starting July 2019) plus plenty of boxing, MLB and NFL simulcasts.

   Turner is NOT interested in La LIga. Turner is having enough trouble monetizing Champions League as it could NOT push through a 0.06/subscriber/month fee increase for truTV. Turner ended up putting Champions League on TNT, which charges over $2/subscriber/month so TNT has the capacity absorb the $60 million/season in rights fee. Bleacher Report Live grosses less than $1 million in subscribe fees from UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League combined.

   Only entity from which Relevant Sports can get what La Liga is looking for, in the neighborhood of $50 million/season, is Tu Deportes Network (TuDN), the soon-to-be-rebranded Univision Deportes Network (UDN).

     Univision (Spanish) and DAZN (English) is definitely a plausible scenario for La Liga, although I’m sure Relevant will try to get others involved in the bidding. DAZN has La Liga rights in some of its global markets.

   Fox Sports didn’t have a choice but to relegate the majority of Bundesliga games to FS2 in favor of NASCAR or college basketball on FS1. Who ever gets the La Liga rights will face the same issue as American Sports always gets the advantage. It’s obvious, more revenue for the network. Lets wait and see what happens. It should be interesting.

     Which is precisely the reason La Liga should strongly consider remaining on beIN! They cater their scheduling to La Liga like no one else can (or wants to?).

     Supposed Univision could do the same, but not for english language. Suspect we may see a rights split between Univision and E S P N if they leave La Liga. With English language rights largely streaming only with the one off match shown on News or 2 or U.

   Good point about beIN. It’s the big fish in a small pond vs small fish in the ocean debate La Liga is going to have to make. The NHL had a similar situation and decided for the small pond and even took less money, knowing they’d be NBC’s largest property and would result in more promotion instead of being lost in E S P N’s sea.

   However, FOX would make sense for both sides provided they don’t renew with the Bundesliga and devote either FS1 or FS2 to La Liga matches not shown on big FOX just for consistency (and show ALL the post 6:30-7AM matches as beIN does on En Espanol).

   I do hope they stick with beIN though as they do a great job and would be a shame to see them enter the inevitable death spiral that would follow losing La Liga.

     Agreed and my biggest fear is FOX getting La Liga and treat it the way they are treating the Bundesliga.

   Great podcast!! But I will disagree with La Liga leaving beIN Sports.
   1. beIN has La Liga in a lot of other markets around the world, almost every market that beIN is in, they have La Liga..
   2. beIN has shirt contract with at least one La Liga team, this shows commitment.
   3. beIN main programming is La Liga and with the connect channels every La Liga match is on TV to include La Liga TV. Even some of the La Liga 2 matches are shown on connect channels.
   4. Like you said in the podcast when complaining about Fox, beIN has quality pre-game, half-time, and post-game shows and weekly shows.
   5. If Fox get them, PLEASE NO!!!!!!! FOR ALL THE REASONS YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT FOX!!!!!
   6. If ESPN get them, we should expect the same deal as Serie A, One match a week on ESPN 2, with the rest of the matches on ESPN+, how is this an upgrade? What about La Liga TV?
   7. BR Live, Unless matches are played on TNT or TBS, this would not be an upgrade.
   8. DAZN, not an upgrade at this time.
   9. UNIVISION, maybe, but what about English language. Late La Liga matches and early Liga MX matches will conflict at times.
   10 NBC, direct competition of the EPL. Could reopen lawsuit with Comcast and beIN.
   11. La Liga own streaming platform, maybe in the future but right now cost is too high when networks are willing to pay millions for rights.

   Sideline Reporters, in Australia, Big Bash T20 Cricket, they mic up players on the field and interview them during the match while playing!! Let’s hope that does not come to soccer!!!
