This is it. The match that means everything to both teams. Manchester City against Manchester United. If you remember, the league game between both sides at Old Trafford last autumn was one of the highlights of the season. The deciding goal by Michael Owen. Fergie time.
There is simply too much riding on this game today that there will be no controversy. The match will be played at such a fever pitch that mistakes will undoubtedly happen, which means that I believe the referee is guaranteed to make a crucial mistake or two.
I’m not a big fan of making predictions, but I will predict that Sir Alex Ferguson is going to blow his lid at some point in this game. You’ll see the Ferguson of old getting red in the face. Something that we haven’t seen in a very long time. Unless, of course, the red half of Manchester takes a comfortable lead. But I don’t see that happening. I envision it being a close game but goals are going to be scored.
Before, during and after the match, please post your comments about this massive game in the section below. And may the best team win.

Smallest man on the pitch with another headed goal. Brilliant!

You can tell Rooney has done well this season all 4 defenders are glued to him and the goalie is pretty much centered in on him. They are doing a great job so far though.

Also, Rooney’s stopped running. City getting more joy as Roo stopped, reducing outlet options. Too many chops to the ankle the ref won’t recognize!

United are playing too direct. When the opportunity presents itself on the break, go for it. But if it’s not on, United need to be more patient. They’re looking “forward first” and giving up possession cheaply as a result.
United will also suffer if they continue Fletcher v. Adebayor on corner kicks.
Ref seems pretty quick to blow the minute a blue falls down, but doesn’t even notice an elbow on Gibson right in front of him. A ref had to get stuck in Romania before they’d give Atkinson the fixture and he’s showing why.

Lalas: “Mancini is obviously Italian in the way he views the game.” <-What?!! No way!!!

It’s times like this I’m sooooo happy I have Setanta… Alexi already showed his cluelessness with his GM efforts in SJ, NY and LA. Now he gets to share it with the globe!
