epl-talk-podcast-300x300

The title race is effectively over, but the battle at the bottom of the Premier League as well as the battle for Europe is still alive and kicking. To dissect all of the weekend’s action and major storylines are Laurence McKenna and Kartik Krishnaiyer on this week’s episode of the EPL Talk Podcast.

Other topics discussed are whether Manchester City are focusing on the coming FA Cup Final instead of taking care of business in the Premier League, Tottenham’s demise, the return of Queens Park Rangers and Norwich City to the Premier League, how important three points is for Liverpool on Monday night, and much much more.

Gaffer, didn’t know where else to post but do you know if the Championship playoff games are being shown on foxsoccer.tv? I know they are being shown on FS+ and usually it means they would also be shown on foxsoccer.tv but in looking at the foxsoccer.tv schedule there’s no mention of these games. I don’t have FS+ which is why I subscribed to foxsoccer.tv. Thanks in advance for your response.

I have a message in to Fox to find out, but the games will be on Fox Soccer Plus for sure. And will probably be on FoxSoccer.tv. As soon as I find out, I’ll write a new post on EPL Talk.

      Cheers,

Interesting point about Gerrard from Kartik.

The problem is that Gerrard was the center of the team for most of Benitez’s reign and for Hodgson’s reign and LFC was not playing pass and move football. That being said, I don’t think that the team has been playing better because Gerrard is out, but the team is just playing better with Dalglish after they got used to his methods. Earlier in the season, we did not play better without Gerrard as you implied. We played well against Villa (without Ashley Young and they were horrible) and West Ham (home) and they were horrible as well. The other games where we played well (Chelsea and Arsenal at Home), Gerrard played well.

When Gerrard comes back next season, he will adapt to the new style and will probably play as an attacking midfielder or the more attacking central midfielder. As long as he does not have to play too many matches (FA, Carling, Europa), he will probably have a much better year after the summer rest IMO.

btw – when you mentioned new stars in the EPL, you did not mention Luis Suarez. He has been amazing since he came to Liverpool. He has only scored 4 goals in 11 matches, but he has been involved in almost all of the goals since he came here.

      Hey Mark,

I agree, in fact, I was making this point in an email this morning. It’s just a symptom of a lot of the top sides in the EPL right now, jaded or tired players who were the image of a previous reign. It’s not a bad thing if these players can adapt to the new styles.

When I mentioned the new stars I was wondering more about young talent in the league. Youth sides have had a very competitive season across the board. Liverpool, City, Wolves all have promising players and with more imports we really could see a new look league next season!

This summer is one of the most refreshing in a while because we don’t have anything to contend with (WC, UEFA) so it’s gonna be nice to see what unfolds.

      Any transfer targets you have?

AOWestchester, I ran into the same problem this morning. You could try deleting the podcast subscription in iTunes and re-subscribing.

Sorry for the issue, but it looks like the RSS feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/epltalkpodcast didn’t update when it should have done. Hopefully this will be fixed shortly. Thanks for your patience.

      Cheers,

What has become of Richard Farley? Is he no longer hosting the EPL Talk Podcast?
