Last Saturday, NBC Sports Group allowed World Soccer Talk inside their International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Connecticut, to gain insight into what goes into broadcasting their 10 hours of Premier League coverage on a typical Saturday.
While we soccer fans at home have enjoyed the coverage thus far, we at World Soccer Talk wanted to get a better understanding of how everything worked. Kartik Krishnaiyer and videographer Joshua Tomlinson joined me on our trip to Stamford last weekend, and we put together the following short film to help give you a better idea of how NBC operates — everything from the studio, control room, tape room (where staff are continually picking out highlights) and the building itself, to interviewing NBC Sports Coordinating Producer Pierre Moossa as well as the talent — Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle and Kyle Martino.
The short film below, as part of our Voices of Soccer series, is the first piece of content we’ll be sharing with you from our visit to Stamford. In the coming days, we’ll be sharing a more in-depth audio interview with Moossa, as well as photographs from inside NBC’s International Broadcast Center, and an article that shines more light on our visit to the building.

I’m not the biggest Kyle Martino fan but this interview actually makes me see him in a better light. I like the fact he immersed (**not ‘engulfed’, as he puts it**) himself in all things Premier League by watching every match once NBC won the rights. And you can see he DOES know what he’s talking about. Meanwhile, Gus Johnson at Fox studies chart, post-it pads and has conversations with other soccer announcers. And all he can do is shout the player’s name with the ball (“Evra!. . . Valencia!. . .Jones. . !. . Van Persie. . fires!”) and everyone can tell he knows NOTHING about the game. I have been extremely happy with NBC Sports’ coverage.

Excellent coverage by NBC so far. I was really excited to see last weekend’s Match of the Day and Match of the Day 2 programs brodcast un-compressed and without the ticker.
I am disappointed and really annoyed though, that the Premier League Review Show and the Match Replay shows are broadcast with the image compressed which distorts and degrades the picture quality.
I do not care if NBCSN wants to run the ticker on these highlights/replay shows just please stop compressing the picture.
