Former Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay is set to be confirmed as the manager of Crystal Palace, to replace Tony Pulis who left the club by mutual consent last week.
In December, Mackay was sacked by Cardiff owner Vincent Tan despite the club being in 15th position in the Premier League. Tan subsequently hired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but the Norwegian got the club relegated in his first managerial stint in Britain.
While at Cardiff, Mackay won the support of the City supporters for the way he worked within a tight budget to get the team promoted to the Premier League, and the type of pragmatic football that earned Cardiff their memorable win against Manchester City in the early part of the 2013/14 season. His good rapport with the supporters seemed to be one of the many reasons why Tan ultimately decided to sack the Scot.
Mackay will join up with fellow colleague Iain Moody, who was also sacked by Cardiff. Moody is now the sporting director at Palace.

While Crystal Palace hasn’t officially confirmed the news yet of Mackay accepting the position, The Daily Mirror is reporting the news.
Mackay was in the running alongside Tim Sherwood to take the manager’s job at Selhurst Park. Given how well Palace played against Arsenal on Saturday as well as what a good manager Mackay is, the feel good factor should be returning to Crystal Palace this week in their hopes to stay up this season and improve upon what Pulis achieved.

I like watching Pulis and am a fan. How can you not be after what he did with Crystal Palace last season. However, I agree that he is not the best with transfers and he also seems quite prickly with the bosses. His fear was likely the same as mine for Crystal Palace this season, which is that they punched above their weight and that is likely not sustainable without some quality buys.

Don’t know how to feel. Pulis did so much with the same group that managed so little early last season. And his history of transfers at Stoke was questionable. Not certain why he felt the need to sign up more players.
