ESPN coming to fuboTV

After launching in 2015 as a soccer streaming service, fuboTV has quickly grown to become one of the leading streaming services available in the United States. Now with the news this week that fuboTV has reached a distribution agreement with ESPN, fubo must be considered the best-in-class streaming service.

With the anticipation building for fuboTV’s addition of the ESPN channels, that won’t happen until sometime this summer. No specific date has been mentioned yet, but — when launched — customers who subscribe to fuboTV’s fubo Standard base package will have access to ABC, ABC News Live, Disney Channel, Disney Junior, Disney XD, Freeform, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, in-market for SEC Network and ACC Network, FX, FXX, and National Geographic. Additional networks will also be available on fuboTV’s other packages including out-of-market for SEC Network and ACC Network, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, ESPN Deportes, FXM, Fox Life, Nat Geo Wild, Nat Geo Mundo, and BabyTV. The deal includes both live television and VOD.

For soccer fans, fuboTV already has the widest selection of soccer-related channels available including NBCSN, NBC, FS1, FS2, FOX Soccer Plus, beIN SPORTS, beIN SPORTS en Español, beIN SPORTS Connect, TUDN, Univision, Galavision, UniMas, CBS, GolTV, Chelsea TV and more. But with the addition this summer of ESPN’s soccer-related networks, the selection of channels that will be available on fuboTV will be complete.

ESPN’s soccer-related channels are ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3, ABC, ESPNU, ESPN Deportes and ESPNEWS.

No details have been shared yet about the expected fuboTV price increase that may happen due to the addition of ESPN channels.

“With the addition to our lineup of the ESPN suite of channels, we continue to make good on our promise to sports fans to be the undisputed home of professional and college sports,” David Gandler, co-founder and CEO of FuboTV, said in a statement.

fuboTV is currently offering a free 7-day trial.

I was ready to make the jump from YouTubeTV to FuboTV…well I wasuntil I saw that TNT was dropped from FuboTV. I love my footie, however I love watching the NBA as well. Like others have mentioned, TNT is the gold standard for the NBA. I’m not giving up my hoops!

you could of just used a friend who still pays for cable tv and got there cable login for the tnt app

They know when multiple streams are using their content with the same ID and password. Sling checks this very closely, and other cable providers will be close behind if they aren’t already. Anyone who hands out their ID and password to freeloaders should have their Internet access to content canceled.

Restricting where an account logs into an app really isn’t enforceable. The number of streams is, but the members of the household could be regularly accessing app content from anywhere (home, work, the library, the coffee shop).

Hulu Live TV apparently does geofence, but only for set top devices.

I’ll take Sling Blue instead with the option of being without ESPN. ESPN is a shell of its former self and the unavoidable premium of having ESPN is just a pain, paying a fortune because they over bid for Monday Night Football, among other things.

I think the NCAA tournament is usually free to stream from the CBS website if I remember correctly.

Right. But not the NBA. And while TNT’s soccer coverage stinks, they are the gold standard for ‘NBA coverage, much better than the whole ESPN “let’s talk about everything except the game we are covering” thing.

Fubo is going up $10 to $65 from $55. Apparently, users are gaining ESPN/Disney/ABC, dvr and 3 streams. They are losing, however, Warner networks (CNN, TNT, etc). Since Turner lost UCL that’s a trade some would definitely make, but they’ll lose access to some MLB, NBA and NCAA tournament year.

The email that I received from Fubo stated that my Fubo Base package going up $5.00 and International Sports Plus going up $1.00 and all other packages staying the same. So $6.00 increase for ESPN starting August 1, but they are dropping Turner’s networks and since they dropped Champions League, I have not issues with that.

Raising the price by $10 a month for adding ESPN /ABC channels but then dropping Turner channels does not make sense. I predict many subscribers will look at alternatives now that Fubo is no longer low-cost.

YouTube TV just increase their price $15.00. When you compare each service with the same channels, all of them are about the same price. As a soccer fan, Fubo has by far the most soccer channels. Plus I like the layout of Fubo better than any of the other services.

Fubo is still cheaper than cord cutting: no contract, no box rentals, no fees, no DVR rental. no extra tiers for stuff like FS2 or BeIN, if you can even get it,,etc.

Yet, with Fubo at $55 and certainly going up and YouTube TV now $65,, Sling Blue + Fanatiz + ESPN+ seems the best deal. The only downside is you miss one Bundesliga and one Serie A game per matchday, but what else* does the ESPN linear channels have to offer except the NBA?

*I’ll care about MLS when they stop blacking out my home team’s games, which I guess they will temporarily for the Disney Tournament

Id be more than happy to pay for ALL the football possible like the Premier Leagueif it was offered on the Peacock/NBC Gold and we didnt have to have a extremely high Live tv package too.
Atleast Bundesliga will be all on ESPN+ just like MLS (minus the stuff on Fox) and USL and I hope that EVERY match for the champions and Europa league will be on CBS all access.
With all that being said No more Premier League for me until i can see all the matches in 1 app.

The irony of delusional cord-cutters ending up paying much more for the same content.

It isn’t irony. We saw this coming, the thing is, when you go a la carte, you need to stay a la carte. You can’t want everything a la carte and expect it to cost less.

I think people wanted to spend less money due to the fact that 1) no technicians had to come to your home and 2) you didn’t have to rent boxes.

I still wanted all the channels I had before, but delivered more efficiently and (hopefully) inexpensively.

Any word if the ESPN networks will be streamed at 60 frames per second? I currently have YouTube TV (all channels at 60 FPS) and annual Sling Sports World (30 FPS). It’s a pretty noticeable difference in quality when watching sports.

I would move over to Fubo once they add ESPN and MLB network (which they announced in March but have yet to do) if they are streaming at 60 FPS. I know it’s a mixed bag currently at Fubo (Fox, Bein, at 60 and NBCSN at 30 as an example ).

Most Disney channels are getting added to add-on packages. I have Fubo Lationo, and I will get ESPN Deportes. So with this package $29.99 + ESPN $12.99 (as part of the Disney+/HULU/ESPN+ Bundle) I get 1. Every Single La Liga match, 2. Every Single Bundesliga match including the ones that are on cable and over the air, 3. Every single Serie A match including all the Cable and over the air, 4. Every single UEFA Champion’s League, 5. Every Single UEFA Europa League. I also don’t have to purchase CBS All access to get of the UCL. The only channels missing are Universo & Telemundo for the EPL. You have to get the full $55 package to get those…but if I get the full package I get NBCSN and wouldn’t need them. Luckily I don’t follow the EPL so I don’t need to pay the extra $30 a month. The two teams that I follow are Sevilla and Barcelona so I can watch all of those in English on beINSPorts. All the rest I watch in Spanish and in crystal clear HD. Not a bad sacrifice at all. As an added bonus I get the Sony Move channel I so I get to watch a bunch of old blockbusters that I have already seen 100 times in English, so I am able to learn and pick up Spanish a lot faster by watching them.

How are you getting “ALL” of the Champions and Europa league without CBS all access if CBS ends up getting the rights for the next year and a half on top of the following 3 years.

      • Christopher Harris

        June 29, 2020 at 7:58 am

Donald, the Spanish-language network Univision has the rights to all of the games for the next 4 seasons, so that’s one alternative.

          June 29, 2020 at 10:21 am

Wow ok to bad im in the middle of no where and don’t get those over the air. Ill be over the moon if i can watch “ALL” the Champions and Europa league matches with just a CBS All access fee.

Im giving up my Premier league since I am no longer willing to pay for a Live tv package.

My setup will be only ESPN plus and CBS all access. This should cover everything except for PL.

All in Internet $60 a month
CBS All access $10 a month no commercials.
          HULU/DISNEY/ESPN bundle about $20 a month.

So i guess $30 for just my watching needs is good.

Looks like good news, bad news. Good news that ESPN and ABC channels will be added. Bad news that the subscription price will increase. Add internet cost and it suddenly doesn’t become as attractive to cut the cord. Total cost could be around $150 per month with high-speed internet.

    • Turfit

      June 27, 2020 at 1:44 pm

Fubo Latino price went up $5 a month not long ago to $29.99 a month.
I would be surprise to see Fubo raise the price on their main plan($55) in order to compete with other streaming services (YouTube TV $50, Hulu Tv $55, Sling Orange and Blue $45,AT&T $50) but I expect them to rearrange the available channels and make the big price changes to their “Add-Ons”.

    June 26, 2020 at 11:45 am

    Does this include ESPN Plus?

    • Christopher Harris

      June 26, 2020 at 1:05 pm

No, ESPN+ would be separate for $5/month.

I think the carriage fees for ESPN , ABC and Disney run about $16 which would push FuboTV into the $70 range. That is expensive, but at least many households wouldn’t need any other main live tv provider at that point, which could save money overall. It would alleviate the need to get FuboTV and Sling, for example.

    • JP

      June 26, 2020 at 9:03 am

But paired with high speed internet and extra costs if you want more DVR space or simultaneous streams, the cost actually gets close to a cable bundle! Then if you further want to add on for Redzone or premium channels like Showtime, edging ever closer. For many the simple convenience of having the cable box might be worth it, especially with promotional rates for a year or two and switch providers to keep getting the promotions.

$70 would be pushing the limits of making it a no brainer move.
