Soccer fans consistently seek out how to save, and annual soccer streaming plans are a great solution.
When it comes to paying to watch soccer through streaming services, most of the costs are already low especially if you’re paying less than $10 per month for many of them.
Having said that, you can save even more when you sign up for annual plans to the popular soccer streaming services. With many of the leagues getting ready to start up again soon, now’s the time to take a closer look at the savings. After all, with most soccer leagues overseas running smoothly except for a few exceptions, the likelihood is that all of us will be watching our favorite clubs even more closely during the next 12 months and beyond.
With personal finances tightening for some of us, here’s our research on how you can save when you sign up for an annual plan. We reviewed many of the popular ones to find out how you can save $50. Take a look at our numbers:

Save with annual soccer streaming plans
In addition to saving a considerable amount of money every season, annual plans have other advantages too:
1) You don’t have to worry about remembering to update your subscriptions if your credit card number or expiration date changes,
2) You can lock in annual savings that you won’t get as a monthly subscriber. A perfect example of this is ESPN+, which increased their monthly rate from $6.99 to $9.99 in August 2022. For those ESPN+ subscribers who signed up for the annual plan of $69.99, that annual rate increased in August 2022.
3) With the $50 you save every year if you get those 4 streaming services mentioned in the chart above, you can consider adding other streaming services for you and your family. For example, you can upgrade your ESPN+ subscription from just ESPN+ to the Disney Bundle that includes ESPN+, Hulu and Disney+ for just $4 more per month.
4) When you subscribe to an annual plan, you still get to enjoy the free trial. For example, when you subscribe to the Paramount+ 30-day trial before August 16 2020, you get the first 30 days for free before you get billed. And,
5) Last but not least, some streaming services offer other incentives when you sign up for annual plans or pay on a quarterly basis. For example, as of press time, Sling TV is offering a free AirTV mini when you prepay for two months.
Locking in annual rates
So how do you get the annual rates that are sometimes hard to find?
When you sign up for your free trials to Paramount+, Fanatiz, ESPN+, Peacock Premium or Sling TV, you’ll get a choice to choose between the different plans available. Often, the annual rates are not featured prominently but you’ll see a link or option for an annual rate (see examples below).

Paramount+
For the next four years, Paramount+ has the rights to major European competitions. For example, CBS’s streaming service airs each Champions League and Europa League gam in the U.S. Plus, Paramount+ also streams television shows and movies as well.

Chris: you need to include iFollow at some point, horrible as is the service. It’s often the only way to “follow” EPL lower divisions. They’ve quite rightly just automatically given a partial refund for 2019-20 without being asked. Unfortunately the video quality is often suspect and the commentary always incredibly bad. Annually it’s just gone up to £140, so around US$ 180 – a ridiculous price. Nonetheless, you should list the info.

With Covid-19, it is questionable whether it is a good idea to go with a full year subscription. The content is simply not guaranteed! The upfront cost is kind of steep as well, cost of money argument and all.
If the Leagues can make it work through October, this could happen. But there are so many moving parts at the moment.

Are usually sign up for the annual plan myself, as I don’t want to worry about monthly billing and like taking the discount.
However, if you truly only want to watch Peacock and CBS all access for the soccer, you might save a little bit of money by turning it off during the summer. The annual plan is like paying for 10 months but really they only show soccer for nine months. Also, If you are a fan of a bigger club, you may not need peacock for a few games at the beginning of the season. You also probably won’t be Peacock for championship Sunday. You may even get away with eight months of Peacock at the monthly rate.
I got Peacock for the $30 promo so that was a no-brainer.

You could probably eliminate a couple more months from CBS, in fact, at least in a normal year. Cancel from mid-December to mid-February and then again in May until September. This is what I did with B/R Live and it worked well.

I forgot about that. Yes, UCL ends around American Thanksgiving and then doesn’t restart until February. That’s another 2 months you can shave off of CBSAA in addition to the three over the summer.
You really only need 7 months of CBSAA at $6 a pop: $42 vs $60 for the year.
All I am saying is that the yearly plan for CBSAA and Peacock soccer fans isn’t one size fits all.

Do the streaming services not retaliate against your smart strategy in cancelling during quiet times in the soccer schedule ? I would think that they would catch on, and send some sort of warning.

Retaliate? I don’t think you can really be upset when your model includes either monthly or annual plans. Plus I’m sure the business model includes the assumption that some people who sign up for monthly plans with the plan to cancel will actually forget and end up paying more than they would have on an annual plan.

True, the summer months are sometimes quieter but there’s more and more programming during the summer months than before. Looking at the summer of 2021, for example, there’ll be the Summer Olympics on Peacock Premium. And there’s a good chance that Copa America 2021 will end up having some games either on ESPN+ or Peacock Premium (if Telemundo acquires the Copa rights).
ESPN+ will also have MLS games and International Champions Cup.

I intentionally did not mention ESPN+ because they are always going to have MLS at the very least and possibly other competitions like Copa America on occasion.
I’m just talking about Peacock and CBSAA, assuming that you aren’t a fan of Twilight Zone, Star Trek, Psych and other non-soccer programming.
Again, I do subscribe annually but there are reasons that others may decide against it.

True, yes, I am considering people who only get CBSAA and Peacock for soccer. If you want the Olympics on peacock, that is indeed a reason to get the annual plan.
