CBS Sports today announced that Matteo Bonetti will serve as the Network’s lead Serie A analyst and match commentator, providing both studio and match analysis throughout the season, while Andres Cordero will serve as lead play-by-play announcer for coverage across CBS Sports Network and Paramount+. Only 3 matches with the Italian SAP option. Oh my I really miss Rai Italia and their coverage of La Giostra Del Goal. Why can’t Paramount Plus capitalize on this and make the Italian SAP option available for more games and on all devices. I really hope that they fix this issue immediately. Paramount Plus pre-half-post coverage is excellent and is the best feature they created for the Serie A. The SAP option is excellent however only for 3 games is not good enough since Rai lost the rights. We also need the replays to have the Italian SAP option as well. A highlights show would be nice to add in the specials sections for each week. FORZA NAPOLI. Please also put more games on CBSSN as well.

    @Miguel, Verona/Sassulo, Bologna/Salernitana, and Cagliari/Spezia had Italian commentary available.

Ok, I did that none of the games had SAP for Italian so far, at least the ones I was able to catch live

@ Chris Do you know if Paramount plans to do something similar to ESPNFC? It would be great to have a similar show covering Serie A, and the South American Leagues. Paramount should do something similar focused on their properties. Now they have the talent to pull it off.

Jo Ankier seems a bit uncomfortable but improving (pronunciation better Sunday than Saturday….Genoa was noticeable).

Andres Cordero great as usual yesterday. Marco Messina as expected, enthusiastic if a bit unpolished but that’s not a bad thing. Like having one of your pals on TV talking Serie A.

Chemistry still has room for improvement, since it’s just been one weekend expect that will get better naturally.

I’m not one for pregame/HT/Postgame shows but was nice to have them for HT instead of the loop of commercials and live feed of the field being watered before 2nd half.

@Miguel You have to swipe down. Same with other apps on AppleTv. But most matches still don’t have it.

Does anyone have an issue with the Italian SAP option? I couldn’t find it on any of my devices. Thank you so much and please post your comments if you can thank you. I really hope Napoli-Venezia has an Italian SAP option. Any thoughts anyone?

@Michelangelo The live Sassuolo game did have it. I was able to change in my AppleTV. It is not available in the replay however. If you are using GoogleTV you will find language options in a top right icon while watching it.

I didn’t see an Italian SAP option for any of the games yesterday. I’ve also noticed during the Sassulo-Verona game the stream was glitching and freezing at times especially during Raspadori’s goal. We need an Italian SAP option since it was promised to us. So far I love the coverage from Matteo and Marco during the Pre-Half-Post game coverage. The chemistry between the two is incredible and I’m very proud of them both. Their coverage so far is excellent and they can definitely do a Golazo zone time show as well when multiple matches are being played at the same time. Hopefully we have a Italian SAP option due to the fact that some of these commentators are horrendous. Overall excellent so far. Thank you so much everyone. Forza Napoli!!!

P+ seems to have corrected the choppiness issues for 2nd half of Sassuolo. If I’m going to complain also have to give credit when resolved.

Stream is fine for Inter but the Sassuolo match is choppy video and audio. So strange! There is the Italian language option though.

This is great, great news. Matteo Bonetti is excellent, I’m sure he’s a bit sad to leave ESPN where he did some great work, but at least CBS realized that it was key to get a good team together to grow the appeal of Serie A. Andres Cordero is fantastic on play by play. Win Win! Forza Roma!

@Lou, I understand but the measurement of “ratings” in the streaming world is a metric that is not standardized. Also, Paramount+ is an SVOD service, I would venture to say any success would be measured by the number of additional subscriptions due to this added league rather than any streamed minutes.

It all comes down to as well the picture quality, the stream, how many matches are going to be televised on CBSSN, and most importantly consistency. Paramount Plus has plenty of resources but their website is atrocious. They have no information of the Serie A and Coppa Italia on their site what so ever. Paramount Plus with adding Matteo, Marco, and Dre is just what they needed two analysts that love the game and a passionate Marco from his podcast IFTV. I wonder if the other members are going to join Marco for some matches such as Mike and Antonio. Italian SAP Option was an amazing step in the right direction since Rai Italia lost the Serie A and Coppa Italia rights so anyone that used to watch the games on Rai are forces to watch them on Paramount Plus. Amazing news for all football fans. Let’s hope Paramount Plus and CBSSN can deliver tomorrow on opening day of the Italian Serie A.

@Futbol is Life, Ratings are a metric and used in decision making and planning. Don’t kid your self, ratings matter.

  24. Futbol is Life

    August 19, 2021 at 8:44 pm

@Lou, the large majority of the games are on Paramount+ so ratings are for the most part irrelevant.

    August 19, 2021 at 4:44 pm

Sure hope CBS has better luck with ratings for the Serie A matches then beIn and ESPN when they held the rights.

I must admit CBS Sports is certainly doing a great job with their hires and just made me immediately more likely to make a point of tuning in for Serie A this year (though the app not having Picture-in-picture on mobile devices like ESPN and also P+ apparently not working with Chromecast for live games anymore certainly seems to make it a chore to watch at times).

I for one am absolutely ecstatic to see Dre Cordero on PxP. While I must admit I don’t think I had listened to him call a game prior to June’s CONCACAF Nations League, I thought he might be the best “American accent” PxP voice for soccer in the US and hope he calls the six USMNT World Cup Qualifiers that Paramount+ has.

This is a natural fit, as Dre was already working with CBS and Mateo has been following Serie A around from network to network for years (and he wasn’t mentioned as a part of ESPN’s La Liga coverage). I love both of them doing games.

This has to be the best news so far we’ve heard from Paramount. Will they only announce games on CBSSN or Paramount as well? It’s great to see a small podcast like IFTV be transformed to the big screen. Matteo Bonetti and Dre Cordero with years of experience excellent. We need more news on the Paramount Website though. We also need to know if their will be a SAP option in Italian, A Goalazo zone in Italian, a podcast show with this crew similar to ESPN FC does, Excellent news for these group of Men and women coming to the best league in the world the Italian Serie A. Thank you so much and if anyone knows more information on stream quality, goalazo zone, pre and post game coverage, podcasts, highlights show, predictions show, Italian SAP option, and any more information please comment it. Thank you so much everyone for your support and FORZA NAPOLI!!!

Dre Cordero!!!!!!!!!!!! Great hire CBS. Matteo and Dre back together again, fantastic.
When I was on Twitter a half decade ago do recall seeing a lot of content from Italian Football TV, nice to see him go big time now. At least we know someone very passionate about Serie A will be on pre/post coverage. That alone helps a lot, not just someone going through the motions.

Let’s go this is Huge congratulations to Matteo and Dre. Excellent commentators in the past for ESPN+ and Bein Sports. Let’s hope Paramount delivers with solid stream quality. OMG Marco Messina from IFTV that’s amazing congratulations amazing news for Paramount. All we need is Serie A Goalazo zone and Italian SAP option. This is amazing to see that dreams to come true. Show us boys that the Serie A is the best league in the world. Congrats to all the announcers going to Paramount Plus. Fantastic news for everyone. What would you guys like to see Paramount Plus do with their Serie A coverage? FORZA NAPOLI!!!
