With less than two weeks until kickoff of the 2020-21 Premier League season, NBC Sports today released its schedule for September, as NBCUniversal platforms will once again present live coverage of every Premier League match.
The opening weekend schedule kicks off Saturday, September 12 at 7:30 a.m. ET on NBCSN, as newly-promoted Fulham host Arsenal, who won their record-extending 14th FA Cup last month. Highlighting the season’s first day, Premier League champions Liverpool host Leeds United – back in the Premier League for the first time in 16 years – at 12:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
In addition, Peacock – NBCUniversal’s new streaming service – makes its debut as the exclusive home of 175 Premier League matches. Peacock Premium will live stream 12 matches in September. On Saturday, September 19, Peacock Premium features exclusive coverage of all morning Premier League action. All matchdays and windows exclusively on Peacock Premium will feature NBC Sports’ Premier League studio coverage.

The networks of NBCUniversal – NBC, NBCSN, and USA Network – and NBCUniversal’s new streaming service – Peacock – combine to present live coverage of all 28 September Premier League matches. Games feature pre- and post-match shows from the NBC Sports Group International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn.
In addition, matches will be telecast in Spanish each week by Telemundo and Universo and will also be streamed on the Telemundo Deportes En Vivo app for mobile devices.

TiVo user on Comcast/Xfinity. Used to record every televised EPL game. We have both Liverpool and Chelsea fans in our family. It was a great joy to spend Saturday mornings watching with everyone. We even setup a new media area in our basement for watch parties. Thanks, NBC for ruining all of that for us. Sure, we get Peacock Premium on Comcast, but we don’t have any Comcast/Xfinity equipment to stream it with – only TiVo Bolt with TiVo mini’s. No Peacock streaming on the TV unless I setup another damned computer – an inconvenience to say the least. No easy replay of games and we’re subject to every propaganda-laced Peacock commercial they want to broadcast. I’ll watch a lot fewer Premiership games, both by choice and by circumstance. Soon will just stop watching NBC and affiliates entirely.

I’m all in favor of a boycott of Peacock. With NBC Sports Gold, you had all of the TV and streaming games available through the same app. Now with Peacock, you need your NBC Sports app to watch the actual games on TV and the Peacock app to watch whatever the heck Peacock is. And it’s not even on Roku. Besides that, they started putting the best games this month on Peacock. This sucks, and this is not how you grow the game in the US.

when Gold was introduced only the odd game at the weekends were shown. Then last season NBC decided to add more games to Gold trying to entice more subscribers. Now this season there are even more games streamed for a cost on Peacock. Now on Sunday the 20th September ALL games are on Peacock!! Initially I increased my channel list to include NBC Sports, which cost me more money and now I am being told I need to pay another $5 a month. La Liga is looking good especially when the big six cartel put pressure on the PL to stop the Newcastle take over. The game is corrupt.

I noticed that about Gold last season, but at least most of them were on channels I already had. When I started watching back in 2010, the matches that I watched were on ESPN. I was happy when they went to NBC and they added more of them. All the NBC affiliates are in my cable package, which includes the internet and my landline. I pay $166 a month to my ISP. I think they call that move of trying to get more money for what you were already watching…..extortion! I’ll just have to be happy with what I can get and watch the Match of the Day on the BBC iPlayer for the highlights of the rest. 🙁

With all these big early-season games being broadcast only on Peacock, I can’t help but get the sense that the Comcast bigwigs have decided to sacrifice the Premier League at the altar as a desperate attempt to get subscribers. It’s a business decision, but that doesn’t mean we have to be happy about it (and I say that as someone who subscribed to Peacock for the year).

Now I find out that The Men in Blazers are not where I can watch either! On a fixed retired income, I have what I have and nothing extra. One of the simple pleasures is slowly ebbing away. No thanks, I’ll just watch what is on the channels I can get already and try to be happy with it the way it is ending up. So sad!

Christopher – any word on Premier League Productions shows on Peacock? Not seeing anything on the Peacock side. Wonder if COVID and very shot offseason has halted PL News. FPL Show, etc or if NBC is just not getting them up on the site yet. There’s enough content there that they could add the Premier League as a “channel” inside Peacock, like the have with SNL, Sky News, etc.

Just saw the press release (and updates here) indicating that Chelsea-Liverpool and Liverpool-Arsenal were also both moved exclusively to Peacock.
There are going to be a lot of angry fans who won’t be expecting this! (Especially if Peacock still isn’t available on Roku.) Surely it’s a gamble to get more people to sign up with Peacock, but that’s a pretty hard sell–and thus feels like kind of a garbage move–when so many viewers won’t even be able to watch these games on their TVs even after paying extra for them.

I think the reason they are putting these high profile games on Peacock only is to try to force people to subscribe to Peacock. I wonder how subscriptions to Peacock will compare to Sports Gold. I predict it will be fewer because of Roku and Amazon devices are not supported.

Talk all you want about NBC, but NBC and beIN sport are now the only networks that shows European soccer on cable or over the air TV on any kind of consistent basis. Bundesliga, Serie A don’t get regular time on real TV on ESPN, and Premier League won’t get it either if they leave NBC.

Peacock , just like ESPN+ , is a scheme to milk the viewers hard earned money.

The inability to record Peacock games is unconscionable, particularly when they are showing two or more games at the same time. Then to have to wait until the evening to watch them is mind-bogglingly stupid. Are NBC trying to cannibalize their audience?

I have to hope that replays of those Peacock-only games, like most Gold games last year, will be available fairly soon after they end.
The question then becomes why replays of televised games are delayed so long for people who actually subscribe to a cable package with NBCSN. I understand holding them off for Peacock people, but these replays should be up soon after they end on the NBC Sports app for people who can log in and watch with credentials.

The reason why the games are only available on replay after 9PM ET is due to a Premier League policy, so it’s not NBC’s fault. I’m sure NBC would prefer to have the games available on-demand much sooner if they were allowed to.

That’s interesting–but only for games that are actually televised (and not the ones streamed on Gold/Peacock)? I feel like this changed a couple years ago, but I could be wrong. Feels like a real disservice to have this policy globally where fans in the U.S., for example, might have to get up at 4:30 a.m. for a game, or where weekday games aren’t in the evening but in the middle of typical work hours.
I suppose I’m just particularly annoyed by this since my DVR doesn’t always work (primarily for Premier League games, even though we record a lot of other crap to watch at night), but that’s Spectrum’s fault, not NBC’s or the PL’s.

Luckily enough not only do we get Bundesliga but I get Ajax from my Dutch league. EPL until they sort Peacock out will not be watched on my TV. Ill still get my fill of Premier league teams when i watch Champions and Europa league matches since CBS is run by component people unlike NBC.

The game is too early for ‘big’ NBC to air – since it’s before 12pm ET, they would need to get local affiliates to clear schedule time and that’s easier said than done). Meanwhile, NBCSN will be showing the final stage of the Tour de France and that can’t be bumped for obvious reasons.

That is a good catch! Le Tour is a bit off schedule this year, and not usually a reason for bumped EPL programming. I think we might have a better feel for how NBC is going to handle EPL content in October with the next programming slate.

I think it’s awful that a lot of the Premier League matches that I enjoyed over the years are now on a channel that you have to pay to watch! I pay too much already for my Cox bundle (phone, internet and cable). I had an awful feeling that when they talked about Peacock that it was yet another ploy to have people spend more money! Not interested in that, so I will have to settle for the ones that I can watch. (Sad face!)

Pretty sure Peacock Premium is free for Cox subscribers such as yourself. As such, you should be able to access the Peacock exclusive games at no additional cost.

Telemundo hasn’t revealed which games they’ll be broadcasting, but yes, they will show many games this season.
