Looking ahead to Qatar 2022, you can stream the World Cup in Spanish via Peacock Premium. Yes, the streaming service from NBCUniversal will stream every single game from the 2022 FIFA World Cup to subscribers. This includes every group stage game, knockout round, and even the final.
With Peacock Premium priced at $4.99 per month (and free for Comcast and COX customers), it’s certainly an attractive option.
The availability of the World Cup streaming on Spanish-language is courtesy of Telemundo Deportes. The Spanish-language network will introduce its new content brand called Tplus on Peacock later this fall. The NBCUniversal Spanish-language network expects to add a host of bilingual content to the new section of Peacock.
Highly-anticipated Messi film
Among the original content is a new documentary about Lionel Messi. The film features Messi’s coaches, doctors, journalists and teammates revealing the essence of who he is.
Soccer fans that wish to watch these World Cup games in English will still have to tune to FOX Sports for the upcoming tournament. Peacock Premium does, however, give Spanish-language Americans or even English-speaking fans that don’t mind watching games in Spanish, a streamlined way to watch all of the World Cup. I mean, who doesn’t love hearing the legendary Andrés Cantor call a game?
2022 World Cup TV schedule for fútbol fans
The announcement of the World Cup addition to Peacock will surely be welcomed news for Peacock users. Execs at the company claimed that the streaming service had over 50 million users as of June 2021, with 20 million of these customers being active users. NBCUniversal has previously expected these numbers to quickly rise in the near future.
Both Tplus and access to the World Cup matches in Spanish will only be available to Peacock Premium subscribers. Comcast, Xfinity, and Cox Cable subscribers currently have the ability to stream Peacock Premium for free; however, all other users will have to pay for the service. Subscribers can choose the $5 per month (or $50 annually) service with commercials, or $10 per month ($100 annually) for access to Peacock Premium without ads.
Watching the World Cup in English-language
Having said that, Telemundo Deportes will also broadcast games across its Telemundo and Universo networks.
For English-language only options, FOX Sports will broadcast games across FOX’s channels as well as the FOX Sports App. Consumers can stream FOX Sports content through fuboTV, Sling Blue, YouTube TV and other providers.
Plans for Tplus
“As the #1 producer of scripted Spanish-language content in the U.S., we are tapping into our deep production expertise and understanding of our audience to launch Tplus, the first and only content brand at scale focused on serving U.S. Hispanics who feel 100% Latino and 100% American,” claimed Beau Ferrari, Chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
Peacock’s Chairman, Direct-to-Consumer Matt Strauss reiterated Ferrari’s comments to add more Spanish-language content to their streaming service. “As the streaming home for Telemundo programming, we are focused on continuing to expand the Peacock catalog with premium content that resonates with Hispanic audiences everywhere,” he said.
“By tapping into the expertise of our partners at Telemundo,” Strauss continued, “we will provide customers with bold new originals, must-stream beloved franchises, and the biggest live sporting events that complement Peacock’s massive library of original, current, and classic movies and shows, as well as the best live news and sports, all in one place.”
Boost for cord cutters
Peacock offers cord cutters a way to watch the World Cup without cable or satellite. For NBCUniversal, it’ll be a huge boost to their Peacock numbers. Plus it gives consumers a chance to sample Peacock, in both English- and Spanish-language.

They re stepping up their game at Peacock! giving access to the world cup very nice!.
At the same time they re running a promo right now that reduces the monthly cost for six months to 3.8 US$ . (Code WM38ANNUAL)

I thought that Telemundo will air 56 games on tv and universo 8 games of the 2022 world cup? Peacock might change the world cup of tv and the streaming of the next tv deal of the world cup? 64 games

@Chris I saw that NBC also discontinued their Gold Pass. Does that mean that those properties (as MotoGP, America’s Cup, Tour de France, etc.) will migrate to Peacock? It is hard to imagine they will be able to move all that to USA channel. The WC on Peacock is great news. I already have a plan A – no need for the usual 1mo of sling to watch the WC. There is only one corporation I dislike more than Comcast – Fox of course.

@Nacho Thanks. I had indeed the impression they post lower quality replays. I think that besides lower fps, they also use higher compression. I believe they convert the stream after the game, which also explains the delay of posting them. ESPN+ replay and live seem to be of the same quality.

@Nacho Are the replays the same quality? The other day I put a replay on my Sony 4k (using app on the native Google TV OS) and the quality was horrendous.

@Mercator indeed all games on Peacock today again are 60fps , including the AVL/MU game now. Picture quality looks good too on my Apple TV 4K/Samsung 4K tv. Now need to figure out the games on USA. I believe USA on sling is 30fps and NBC sports app limits at 30fps too…

This is good news and it looks like Peacock is quickly rolling out 60 fps as well. Everton/Norwich and Southampton/Wolves are both in 60 gpa today and it looks great. Very watchable Goal rush still seems to be at 30fps though (although this is actually the Newcastle game on USA – nice to get a cable game on peacock).
Let’s see how they do with the Olympics first. But this could end up being a great option if Peacock keeps improving.

This is good news. I was dreading having to listen to Fox’s garbage commentary and “expert” analysis. I don’t speak much Spanish, but I think I know enough about the game to not understand the commentary and still be able to enjoy it

I wish it was available in English too on Peacock. I can’t stand Fox’s garbage commentary either and lack of real expert analysis. They are the worse. We usually mute them. The upside is maybe I can improve my Spanish.

This is great news! It solves one of the bigger challenges I have experienced when major event rights are with Telemundo rather than TUDN. I hope it signals Peacock as a long-term home for Telemundo (Chivas home games, please) and Universo (more EPL, please) properties. Spanish sports streaming is on the upswing – ESPN+, Prende, Peacock, etc.

Wow! So you’re saying I won’t need Sling for a month to watch the WC after all (assuming most matches on FS2/FS2). Yeah I don’t care about the commentary language so this will be great. Peacock getting a new subscriber next fall….now if they just add live MotoGP that can be even earlier.
