Manchester City looks to be humming along in the league. With just two games remaining, the Sky Blues are well on their way to a fourth EPL crown in the last five seasons.
Liverpool, the other dog in the race, is off in the league this weekend. Rather, the Reds take on Chelsea in the FA Cup Final on Saturday afternoon.
To open space for the FA Cup and Eurovision Song Contest, all of the Premier League games on the weekend are set for Sunday and Monday. Plus, there are midweek games to get set for decision day on Sunday, May 22.
This weekend, the best games to watch in the Premier League revolve around the relegation battle. Sure, the West Ham game against Manchester City has implications on the top half of the table. However, Manchester City’s torrent pace looks insurmountable for most sides.
Everton, which is nearing safety in the Premier League, hosts Brentford. Everton is on a roll of three games unbeaten, and the light of survival in the league is in sight. Burnley takes on a desperate Tottenham side coming off of the North London Derby. Meanwhile, Leeds faces Brighton in need of points to maintain hope of staying up.
Midweek, there are more great games to make time for. The Everton-Crystal Palace game could very well be Everton’s shining moment of survival. That game is set for Thursday afternoon.
At the same time, Chelsea hosts Leicester City in a rematch of last season’s FA Cup Final. Neither side is in need of anything too dramatic based on current standings. Still, it is a good game between interesting teams that perhaps failed to meet expectations this season, however lofty those were.
NBC coverage of the Premier League
Rebecca Lowe is in charge of Sunday’s Premier League coverage. However, there is no pregame coverage for the 7 a.m. kickoff or the 9 a.m. window. Rather, a lone Premier League Live at 11 a.m. gets viewers prepared for Newcastle against Arsenal.
Unfortunately, Goal Rush is not on the schedule for Sunday. There are five games in the 9 a.m. window that day, which would shape up perfectly for the whip-around show.
Also, there are no games scheduled in 4K for May 15 through 19.
For the midweek games, it is business as usual for NBC. Premier League Live and Goal Zone precede and succeed game coverage on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

Still no word about NBC Sports renewing Rebecca Lowe’s contract, which is about to end, unless I missed some news. I’m sure she has excellent representation. Seems like all parties would want to finalize things by this coming weekend so that Lady Lowe can let fans know she’ll be back when coverage resumes in August?

So many better options than Martin Tyler these days (Steve Wilson doing a wonderful job on the Huddersfield v Luton game, for instance). They showed five slow motion replays of the Arsenal own goal and Tyler kept remarking on what a great finish it was by Callum Wilson. Rob Green should have helped out, although he did keep the broadcast on track more than some of the other co-commentators do on one of Martin’s bad days.

Arlo White did the West Ham-Man City game on USA for viewers in the United States. If you live in the U.S. and you heard Peter Drury’s voice, it was either on Peacock or on NBC’s 4K feed of the game.

It is true NBC doesn’t choose or employ the commentary teams for most of the EPL games they broadcast. Those feeds are provided by the League. White, Dixon and Le Saux are on contract and exclusive to NBC, I think (at least for calling Premier League matches- they may do other work in the UK too).
I’ve been pleasantly surprised how much coverage NBC has been providing on USA and sometimes CNBC since shutting down NBCSN. I had feared that it might be one match Saturday and one Sunday with everything else relegated to Peacock

Joe Speight perfectly narrating Brighton, Leceister, and West Ham goals within a period of twenty seconds (at least two live) was amazing. Goal Rush commentary takes a special talent in itself.

Let’s face it. When nbc dumped their morning Sky Sports news feed as a budget maneuver, should we be surprised they simply dont care about the quality of the product any more. Pien, Jacqui, Courtney, Arlo, Tim Howard. All third rate.

Another pretty bad commentator lineup. Pien and Lee Hendrie should thoroughly ruin a game I was really looking forward to. Lee Hendrie: “The likes of Wilf Zaha is challenged by the likes of Tyrone Mings with the likes of Ezri Konsa on the cover and the likes of Martinez in goal”. Just kill me now.

I agree . Just glad the Leicester game has no Pien or Jacqui or Courtney .Just suffered through Twellman in the FA Cup Final and to make it worse ESPN dubbed down the crowd noise so no atmosphere and with Jon Champion in doing the commentary from a studio so that was terrible.
