Some clubs played in the Champions League this week, others featured in the Europa League. Those are both competitions that a number of England’s best want to get to next season.
The main way that will happen will be decided in the race for the top-five. There are, practically at least, five teams fighting for the fourth and fifth spots. This weekend, none of those five teams (Arsenal, Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham, Manchester United and Tottenham) go head to head. Still, every game matters in the hunt for European qualification.
As things stand, Manchester United holds that fourth spot following a midweek victory against Brighton, 2-0. United battles Leeds in the Roses Derby, with Leeds in the relegation battle.
Last weekend, Wolves made things much more competitive with a win at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Wolves looks for a fifth win in six Premier League games when they welcome Leicester City to Molineux. On the other hand, Tottenham may still have games in hand, but the honeymoon period with Antonio Conte seems to be fading.
The situation with Spurs looks bleak. A good result against Wolves was necessary considering who Tottenham plays this weekend. A trip to the Etihad to play a Manchester City machine unbeaten in its last 13 in all competitions. Interestingly, Tottenham defeated Manchester City in both clubs’ season opener.
Since then, Manchester City has 20 wins, three draws and a lone loss. The only club near the Citizens in the title hunt is Liverpool. Liverpool welcomes Norwich City to Anfield on Saturday.
Other notable games include a revamped Newcastle side against top-four challengers West Ham. Also, Arsenal seeks revenge for the season-opening defeat against Brentford on Saturday.
NBC Coverage
With Rebecca Lowe still on NBC’s Olympics coverage, fans of studio coverage will see something different this weekend. Arlo White, Graeme Le Saux and Lee Dixon are the studio crew, rather than a commentary crew. The trio is live from the Sky Sports Studio in the U.K. This marks the second-consecutive week with Arlo White behind the desk from a new location. Last week, NBC put its EPL coverage at SoFi Stadium ahead of the Super Bowl.
From Sky Sports Studio, NBC’s Premier League coverage remains relatively unchanged. Premier League Mornings, Premier League Live and Goal Zone serve as pre- and post-match coverage before and after each game.
Unfortunately, there is no Goal Rush this weekend, despite six games in the Saturday at 10 a.m. window.

@cmasia Tony Jones is one of my favourites too. What a distinctive voice.Gary Birtles can be pretty biting in his commentary but I met him once at a League One playoff game and he could not have been nicer.

Long stretches where no commentary is necessary, so silence prevailed. Were you watching, Arlo?
Birtles making salient points when necessary, and as usual not afraid to point out errors in both play and formation.
Since footy is a game with miles more failures and mistakes than brilliance, why are other afraid to point out those mistakes?

Thanks a lot bro, I’ll take your very well-meaning advice from your basement to heart. Back in the real world, if Comcast knew it couldn’t afford to broadcast their normal half hour show before the 12:30 game the LEAST they could have done is remove the blackout from the PL Channel in the US. That would be something customer service oriented, it is being broadcast around the world anyway. Matchday Live from the UK would have been a nice substitute.

IMO, this was the best broadcasting of the EPL I’ve seen so far. I am really enjoying. And what a goal from Salah. I realize now that my issue with the league is that I do not appreciate NBC’s take on the tournament in general. Give me all world feed live, and I will be more than happy to pay for Peacock. I don’t care for Pre/post match shows, but I enjoy seeing the stadium atmosphere for 10-15 min before and after the final whistle. I enjoy the stadium vibe more than some BS analysis. The 90 min during the match is more than enough to catch up on the latest news of the league.

No goal rush is bad enough, but now there’s no post game or pre-game in this 12 to 12:30 slot, not on NBC, USA or Peacock? What good is touting Arlo and Graeme Le Saux and Lee Dixon in the SkySPorts studio if there is no wrap-up or highlights after the 6 games at 10am concluded?

You are wrong. They could have had the pre-game and post-game show on Peacock or on the local NBC where they had a show about rescuing pets.
The Olympics were on tape delay, not live.

On Saturday PLTV blackout ended once NBC Sports coverage finished on TV, so post-match coverage was available through Matchday Live and Live Extra.

I am using 2 extra computers and a DIRECTV satellite TV receiver in order to watch Crystal Palace vs Chelsea (on USA Network), Liverpool vs Norwich (streaming) and Arsenal vs Brentford (streaming).

PLTV is producing Goal Rush, but Peacock TV (US) is NOT offering it to US subscriber due to capacity issues i.e. Olympics
Goal Rush will be available to viewers around the world except the US, as usual.
