The Premier League title race continues to heat up. Midweek, Liverpool played its makeup game to get back to the same number of games played as Manchester City. After 26 games, Liverpool trails last season’s Premier League champions by just three points.
However, Liverpool has the weekend off, at least in Premier League action. The Reds battle Chelsea in the EFL Cup Final on Sunday.
On the other hand, Manchester City looks to bounce back from a shocking, and thrilling, defeat against Tottenham on Saturday. City travels to Goodison Park to play a struggling Everton side just two points outside of the drop zone.
Another club that is disappointing this season is Leeds. The club is three points off the drop zone. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side played two more games than both Everton and Burnley. This weekend, Leeds plays a pivotal game against Tottenham, which is on a poor run of form themselves. Having defeated league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad, Antonio Conte’s club followed up its best result of the season with a loss at 18th-placed Burnley, 1-0.
The most intriguing fixture of the weekend in the Premier League is between Wolves and West Ham. While not necessarily the favorites to qualify for Europe, both clubs are in contention for a top-six finish. To start, West Ham United is currently in fifth. However, one win in the club’s last five EPL games has them four points behind Manchester United. Then, Wolves is on a scintillating run of form. Six wins in the club’s last eight EPL fixtures shot Wolves into seventh, close behind Arsenal, West Ham and Manchester United.
Coverage begins on Friday, however, with Southampton hosting bottom-of-the-league Norwich.
NBC Coverage
Rebecca Lowe returns from her time with NBC’s 2022 Olympics coverage to host NBC’s studio coverage. Joining Lowe behind the desk are Robbie Earle and Tim Howard.
Premier League Mornings is the pre-game show before the first game or games on Saturday and Sunday. Then, Premier League Live serves as filler coverage between games. Finally, Goal Zone wraps up all the day’s action on both Saturday and Sunday.

I’ve largely enjoyed DAZN, aside from the limitation of one week to watch games before they revert to highlights. I guess the Cloud DVR option on FuboTV would be nice in that respect. I’d be interested to know the experiences of readers of this page with Fubo.

Yes, and I decided to boycott (as possible) chinese imports, as China is the enabler of the Ukraine aggression in the end of the day. I don’t buy vodka or any Russian product anyway. Russia relies on China as a trading partner, and China has their own expansionist agenda. India’s unwillingness to condemn it was also hard to swallow.

It was Drury unfortunately but Steve Crossman did an excellent job on 5 Live. Crossman beautifully enhanced the game without making it all about his flights of vocabulary a la the one so:many of us can’t stand.

Here’s what’s weird…. When she calls the game she’s fine, actually.
When a goal is scored, however, she puls an Arlo and talks all over it, instead of letting the scene breathe a bit.
And she absolutely, positively wrecked the introduction of Christian Eriksen. I mean wrecked it. After droning on and on, she said, “Listen to the crowd”, then started droning on and on again…
If she just kept with play-by-play, not so bad, but jeez, is there anyone at IMG who has these people re-watch their performance and do some training?
The Eriksen introduction was horrible… horrible…

Her Eriksen introduction was a low point. She also uses all the worst English commentator cliches: “just look at what it means to him” for any celebration, “will there be a late twist in the tale?” of any game still close in the 88th minute, etc. God, I wish they didn’t all feel they absolutely must parrot exactly the same phrase every single time. I remain hopeful that Jacqui will grow.

“Just look at what it means to him” makes me cringe too. Can they think of something else to say one time in a hundred when someone is celebrating a goal, a trophy, whatever? Ironic that they all feel they have to say the same thing when faced with a certain image or situation when overall British football commentators are the most articulate and verbally creative of any sports broadcasters.

I have noticed that mention is increasing about the betting odds for teams winning the game while the match is in progress. Obviously, the betting sites are paying the networks to do this. Personally, I could do without that.

Bill Leslie is awesome, a great commentator. I can’t wait for the early game, Leeds United vs Tottenham. I wish he was on every weekend, him and Chris Wise are 2 of my favorite commentators. Also, looking forward to Jacqui Oatley & Efan Ekoku on duty for Brentford vs Newcastle as Christian Eriksen will debut for Brentford.
