EPL Commentator Schedule

EPL Commentators on NBC: Feb. 25 to Feb. 27

The Premier League title race continues to heat up. Midweek, Liverpool played its makeup game to get back to the same number of games played as Manchester City. After 26 games, Liverpool trails last season’s Premier League champions by just three points.

However, Liverpool has the weekend off, at least in Premier League action. The Reds battle Chelsea in the EFL Cup Final on Sunday.

On the other hand, Manchester City looks to bounce back from a shocking, and thrilling, defeat against Tottenham on Saturday. City travels to Goodison Park to play a struggling Everton side just two points outside of the drop zone.

Another club that is disappointing this season is Leeds. The club is three points off the drop zone. However, Marcelo Bielsa’s side played two more games than both Everton and Burnley. This weekend, Leeds plays a pivotal game against Tottenham, which is on a poor run of form themselves. Having defeated league leaders Manchester City at the Etihad, Antonio Conte’s club followed up its best result of the season with a loss at 18th-placed Burnley, 1-0.

The most intriguing fixture of the weekend in the Premier League is between Wolves and West Ham. While not necessarily the favorites to qualify for Europe, both clubs are in contention for a top-six finish. To start, West Ham United is currently in fifth. However, one win in the club’s last five EPL games has them four points behind Manchester United. Then, Wolves is on a scintillating run of form. Six wins in the club’s last eight EPL fixtures shot Wolves into seventh, close behind Arsenal, West Ham and Manchester United.

Coverage begins on Friday, however, with Southampton hosting bottom-of-the-league Norwich.

NBC Coverage

Rebecca Lowe returns from her time with NBC’s 2022 Olympics coverage to host NBC’s studio coverage. Joining Lowe behind the desk are Robbie Earle and Tim Howard.

Premier League Mornings is the pre-game show before the first game or games on Saturday and Sunday. Then, Premier League Live serves as filler coverage between games. Finally, Goal Zone wraps up all the day’s action on both Saturday and Sunday.

    @SaintsFan:

Peter Drury and Matt Upson are calling the Chelsea-Liverpool EFL Cup Final world feed in English (on ESPN+)

If you can’t stand Drury, you can watch the ESPN+ Spanish-language stream with Miguel Simón and Marcelo Espina (off tube from Buenos Aires, Argentina)

I just did exactly that, before reading this comment!
As long as I can hear the crowd that is fine. Right, time to learn how to swear in Spanish.

I’ve largely enjoyed DAZN, aside from the limitation of one week to watch games before they revert to highlights. I guess the Cloud DVR option on FuboTV would be nice in that respect. I’d be interested to know the experiences of readers of this page with Fubo.

    @war Save face with who?
Yes, and I decided to boycott (as possible) chinese imports, as China is the enabler of the Ukraine aggression in the end of the day. I don’t buy vodka or any Russian product anyway. Russia relies on China as a trading partner, and China has their own expansionist agenda. India’s unwillingness to condemn it was also hard to swallow.

From the NYT “Why the Chinese Internet Is Cheering Russia’s Invasion —
As the world overwhelmingly condemns the assault on Ukraine, online opinion in China is mostly pro-Russia, pro-war and pro-Putin.”

    @Ra:

    Volatility = opportunity

Many financial market participants made more money in the past 2 weeks than in their entire lives because Mr. Putin had to save face by attacking Ukraine.

We are now waiting for Mr. Xi to borrow Mr. Putin’s “playbook” with regards to Taiwan.

The world is ablaze and the joksters are worried about who will commentate the next match. Really??

Any idea who the commentator is on ESPN+ for the Chelsea v Lpool league cup final tomorrow?

    • Christopher Harris

      February 26, 2022 at 3:36 pm

Either Martin Tyler or Steve Wilson.

      • MarkB

        February 26, 2022 at 7:57 pm

Tyler has become a cure for insomnia. I was hoping for John Champion, even if that meant having to listen to Twitman’s so called analysis.

        February 26, 2022 at 8:26 pm

Cool. Just glad that there’s no chance that it is Drury. Can look forward to the final of a major English cup at Wembley. Always a big deal.

      • SaintsFan

        February 27, 2022 at 11:30 am

Sadly your info was incorrect. We have to suffer Drury. Well actually we don’t, the Spanish option is available. Way better. GOAAAAAALLLLLL.

        • Jon

          February 27, 2022 at 2:34 pm

It was Drury unfortunately but Steve Crossman did an excellent job on 5 Live. Crossman beautifully enhanced the game without making it all about his flights of vocabulary a la the one so:many of us can’t stand.

jacqui should stick to darts, it isn’t misogynistic to comment about poor commentating. she deserves the same treatment as twitman, at least twitman played a bit of professional football even if he was crap. his insight is rubbish which matches his european experience. she doesn’t even have this. i feel sorry for efan…

Perhaps this site should consider turning comments off for this thread permanently?

Do we really need to read week after week the same repetitive cheap shots from the Tim Howard haters, the Arlo White haters, the misogynists who feel the need to chime in whenever a woman is on any broadcast and now we have a Canadian DAZN shill? Give Canada its own broadcast page which no one will read so we are not subjected to drivel like this:

“On the other hand, NBC Sports in the US will offer its stale and predictable product with Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle and Tim Howard.”

Let Canada rule elsewhere rather than polluting this thread.

    • Dave Churchman

      February 26, 2022 at 5:08 pm

Now that’s funny. Slag off those who comment on Tim Howard, Arlo and female announcers and then go after Rebecca Lowe and Tim Howard yourself. Rich.

    • Jon

      February 27, 2022 at 5:33 am

@Steve K on the contrary, the thing that would improve this site is not necessarily fewer comments from Canada but less of your asinine musings. The “Canadian DAZN shill” is a thinly disguised version of a notorious commentator you should recognize.

Jacqui Oatley ………. Why , Why ,Why ?????
Another game about to be ruined with terrible commentary ……

    • cmasia

      February 26, 2022 at 4:58 pm

Here’s what’s weird…. When she calls the game she’s fine, actually.
When a goal is scored, however, she puls an Arlo and talks all over it, instead of letting the scene breathe a bit.

And she absolutely, positively wrecked the introduction of Christian Eriksen. I mean wrecked it. After droning on and on, she said, “Listen to the crowd”, then started droning on and on again…

If she just kept with play-by-play, not so bad, but jeez, is there anyone at IMG who has these people re-watch their performance and do some training?

The Eriksen introduction was horrible… horrible…

      • Jim

        February 27, 2022 at 6:25 am

Her Eriksen introduction was a low point. She also uses all the worst English commentator cliches: “just look at what it means to him” for any celebration, “will there be a late twist in the tale?” of any game still close in the 88th minute, etc. God, I wish they didn’t all feel they absolutely must parrot exactly the same phrase every single time. I remain hopeful that Jacqui will grow.

        • Jon

          February 27, 2022 at 6:33 am

“Just look at what it means to him” makes me cringe too. Can they think of something else to say one time in a hundred when someone is celebrating a goal, a trophy, whatever? Ironic that they all feel they have to say the same thing when faced with a certain image or situation when overall British football commentators are the most articulate and verbally creative of any sports broadcasters.

Thanks for having a featured spot for the TV commentator schedule.
Yes on Bill Leslie. And Rob Green does a good job, too.

I have noticed that mention is increasing about the betting odds for teams winning the game while the match is in progress. Obviously, the betting sites are paying the networks to do this. Personally, I could do without that.

  11. Canada Rules

    February 26, 2022 at 6:26 am

    Canada rules AGAIN, baby!

DAZN Canada will offer Premier League TV Matchday Live with Steve Bower, Michael Owen and Ian Wright for Leeds-Tottenham and the 10am ET Goal Rush.

On the other hand, NBC Sports in the US will offer its stale and predictable product with Rebecca Lowe, Robbie Earle and Tim Howard.

  12. Azer

    February 25, 2022 at 11:32 pm

Bill Leslie is awesome, a great commentator. I can’t wait for the early game, Leeds United vs Tottenham. I wish he was on every weekend, him and Chris Wise are 2 of my favorite commentators. Also, looking forward to Jacqui Oatley & Efan Ekoku on duty for Brentford vs Newcastle as Christian Eriksen will debut for Brentford.

  13. Canada Rules

    February 25, 2022 at 2:52 pm

    Canada rules, baby.

DAZN Canada is taking Premier League TV pre-match with Steve Bower, Michael Owen & Karen Carney. MUCH better than the stale product NBC is serving to US viewers.

  14. Jon

    February 25, 2022 at 2:28 pm

Jim Proudfoot on a Southampton game is a natural. Great way to start the weekend!

    • John Culea

      February 25, 2022 at 3:17 pm

Agree and Andy Townsend is excellent with Proudfoot. Peter Drury and Jim Beglin are the best team while Lee Dixon is the best at what he does.

  15. Dave Churchman

    February 25, 2022 at 12:15 pm

Why do NBC persist with Tim “the snitch” Howard. So desperate for a scoop, he ruined Lukaku. His monotone voice sends sinuses into max irritation. Permutate any pair from Muscoe, Earle and Higgingbottom for the studio.
